In response to the recent delay in the payment of January salaries to some of our members and other workers in general, the UPNMG, as an affiliate of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), joined a delegation led by the Secretary-General of the TUC, alongside the National President of UPNMG, Mr. Maxwell Oduro Yeboah. Together, they met with the Controller and Accountant General, as well as other relevant stakeholders, to address the issue and explore long-term solutions.
Additionally, they discussed the concerning matter of membership theft by other unions. During these discussions, strategies were explored to prevent such occurrences in the future, thereby safeguarding the interests of our members.
To our junior colleagues who have experienced delays in receiving their salary arrears, the National President has arranged a meeting with the Minister of Health to expedite the resolution of this issue. The meeting was productive, and we remain optimistic about a lasting solution.
We sincerely thank you for your patience as we work diligently to resolve these challenges. As always, we remain committed to the welfare and advancement of our members.

This morning the Health minister announced a roadmap for the payment of our unpaid junior colleagues.
This development comes as a great relief to many of our junior colleagues who have gone nine months without pay despite their continued dedication to duty. Throughout this period, the UPNMG has stood firmly by these colleagues providing both moral and logistical support while constructively engaging the relevant authorities to ensure that their concerns were heard and addressed.
This announcement is not a gesture of goodwill but a recognition of the rights of hardworking professionals who have served the nation faithfully. We commend the Ministry of Health and Cabinet for taking this decisive step toward restoring fairness and dignity.
The UPNMG emphasizes that while this is a positive milestone, the real victory will be achieved when every affected nurse and midwife has received full payment. The Union will therefore continue to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and other relevant agencies to ensure that the process is transparent, fair, and completed without further delay.
