@RightTechGadfly@lavenderleaf86@lefticus The argument is that software doesn't feel nearly as snappy for the average user on average software that shouldn't demand immense resources. I'm not particularly in favor of min/maxing where not necessary, but simple operations should feel as simple and fast as in the past.
@notegone@kindanicegames Steam takes DMCA violations very seriously (a completely bogus one was filed against me by a copyright troll and my game was still taken down for weeks). This current state of exact aesthetic and base game mechanic plagiarism would definitely hold up legally, so no reason to wait
@ccreikey @chiraku29 @dotlake @kindanicegames@terrybrash They're saying the combination of exact style (especially color scheme) replication + the underlying philosophy that drives the substance of the game = plagiarism. You're not arguing in good faith.
@ENDESGA@Salman_Shh I wouldn't say it definitely shouldn't be W/Up, just like the original post didn't say it definitely shouldn't be Spacebar (just that it makes Salman cringe). If W/Up is used for ladder climbing etc. I like Spacebar as well, but I get people's preference and W feels fine IMO.
@ThorzForever@SMarySue2@LeoVasanko@WDBTHtGP That's not true. Humans can absolutely perceive greater framerates. The science and brain processing behind vision are highly complicated, and it can't be simplified into a concept like a hard framerate limit.
@LincolnMargison@Rahll and Google + content hosts/aggregators have easily usable DMCA tools and other compliances with well defined laws. I'm not saying that others don't benefit from any exploitation, but Midjourney has no tools for an artist to prevent near exact duplication + use of their copyright.
@LincolnMargison@Rahll Breaking this down a bit: every single website indexed by any search engine could restrict access to those search engines easily, images being reposted without attribution is not Google's problem (all searchable images are attributed to the source that allowed it to be indexed)..
@HibernianWS@Relixes My free Steam game (also made with Construct) had a large Brazilian audience, so you know I had to add that pt-br localization for the sequel, which eventually made it to consoles. Viva Brazil 🇧🇷🙌
@LincolnMargison@Rahll The search engine analogy doesn't apply because websites desperately WANT to be found and used by search engines. That's why SEO is a whole field. Professional artists don't want their works to be scraped by AI which results in less potential work opportunities for them.
@LincolnMargison@Rahll ex: say Adobe plagiarized the code for its copy paste function from Paint and is profiting off of it by selling subscriptions. This is obviously a violation of copyright.
@LincolnMargison@Rahll You're providing examples of importing copyrighted works into software and saying that's the same as Midjourney's copyright issues. The difference is that the copyrighted works literally make up the tool itself, instead of a user importing them. A similar analogy would be: ...
@ttvPalmer How is the expertise of artists not proof of anything beyond opinion? Someone with extensive game modeling experience showing near identical topology on tails, the obviously traced tail model from Primarina is not just opinion, it's professionally vetted factual analysis.
@sonofdadkiller@MartiansGame "There are frameworks built on top of canvas/webgl" He's released a full game on steam using one of those frameworks already. There's always space for new ideas. Don't complain about a fight on twitter when really it's just people calling you out for being disingenuous and rude.
@AnnatarTheMaia@zikes @KerrieLake you have to be trolling. in no way does the original art look like a 4 year old (as you said previously) or an 8 year old pixeled it. would the addition of dithering and AA really suddenly elevate that to a professional level in your eyes? from a child's doodle?
