❤️ I love the potential of Cardano. That’s why Upstream is still here, running our SPO infrastructure and maintaining our set of useful tools.

🤝 We invested early in bare metal infrastructure and ring-fenced roughly 10 years running costs when we had meaningful delegations from FEs like @Cardano_CF and @IOGroup and some beautiful community whales back in the early days.

🔁 We receive rewards, convert to fiat or increase our pledge if we can, and operate as a profitable UK limited company. The directors original investments paid back long ago and our runway is still long.

💸 When funding is available we organise events and host community summits with great historical success, keeping the community connected in person. Recently these avenues of funding have closed or become sparse with little desire for in person meet ups or the community summits.

💰 As a tiny pool today we generate about $100 a month in SPO rewards. And so we resell hosting and api access to a few clients needing data access and a managed service that they can request custom data structures to meet their needs.

Sounds like a great idea. But we did do exactly this for the 21 summit, virtual summit with almost no turn out and ultimately a hollow experience.

People want and need to meet in person, spending your time for this will be a waste.

@RareRandCorp Preferably this would be via community summits. Most of Cardanos community members will not be able to attend Rare unfortunately, as much as they would love too. Rare gov day then being one of many sites operating Dev / Gov Days

If only we had a yearly Cardano focused summit where we meet in person.

🔥 Yearly Cardano Community lead summits (like we used to pre Voltaire)

- Goverenance would be given a yearly cadence we can work too.
- In person chats will outweigh the online loop shouting matches.
- Focused yearly workshops for goverenance, node diversity, treasury spending, NCL
- Wrap up each event by inviting local business to the onboarding workshops ‘what Cardano can do for you and your business’

Funded by the treasury, costs published by hosts. This will give more value than any current proposal gives by simply solidifying relationships, and nurturing the Cardano ‘internals’ in a properly inclusive manner

Update: The PreProd hard fork initiation action was not ratified at the epoch boundary on May 31. It is now expected to be ratified on June 5, with enactment on June 10.

Shout out to @Cardano_CF for sticking with their abstain vote on the revised Summit proposal all the way through the end. It couldn't be easy, but standing on principles rarely is.

I'm hoping something can be organized, even if it's modest, because I know people personally who booked their hotels and flights to Singapore when the Summit was announced in Berlin back in October 2025, during the previous Summit before they even left Berlin.

The Cardano NCL is a complete mute point. If we reach it and DReps want to vote another TWA to pass, then those same DReps can simply propose a new NCL, done.

To top it off the concept of the NCL and how DReps and the community treat this arbitrarily made up figure is a joke. It’s not derived from any data it is a random number, why do you honour it?

The NCL needs removing and we as a community need to pass and fund what we need now.
