"We urge Japan and the Philippines to immediately stop their illegal infringements and provocative acts. If they choose to persist in their wrong course, they will only reap what they sow," said a Chinese defense spokesperson on Tuesday.
Japan and the Philippines unilaterally announced the launch of maritime delimitation negotiations in the waters east of China's Taiwan Island. The China Coast Guard immediately conducted law enforcement patrols in the relevant waters, and China’s Ministry of Transport subsequently carried out a special law enforcement operation on maritime traffic.
When being asked to comment on that, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense (MND), pointed out that, regarding the unauthorized announcement by Japan and the Philippines to launch the so-called "maritime delimitation negotiations" in the waters east of China's Taiwan Island, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stated China's solemn position of firm opposition.
"China will take resolute and strong measures to safeguard its national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests," added the spokesperson.

The Japanese side is playing up China's legitimate operation to stoke tensions and mislead public opinion. This propaganda campaign will never succeed, said Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense (MND), at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the Japanese side kept tracking and monitoring the training activities of the Chinese PLA Navy’s Liaoning Aircraft Carrier Task Group in the Western Pacific. Japan's Ministry of Defense has continuously disclosed the task group's number of vessels, training location and number of sorties flown by ship-borne aircraft, and the Japanese Defense Minister said they would continue to closely monitor China’s Aircraft Carrier Task Group and stay on alert.
"Currently, the Chinese PLA Navy’s Liaoning Aircraft Carrier Task Group is conducting training in the relevant waters of the Western Pacific as planned," said the spokesperson, adding that the operation is not targeted at any specific country or entity and it aims to enhance the combat capabilities of the Aircraft Carrier Task Group through far-seas training.
"The Chinese side responded to multiple surveillance operations of the Japanese side during the training in accordance with laws and regulations. People see clearly that the Japanese side is playing up China's legitimate operation to stoke tensions and mislead public opinion. This propaganda campaign will never succeed," noted the spokesperson.

China claims it’s "containing remilitarization," yet they are expanding their own military. This ban only pushes Japan to accelerate de-risking and find new suppliers. Weaponizing resources is counterproductive.
At a regular press conference on June 9, a Bloomberg reporter noted that the Nikkei is reporting that the U.S. has asked China to resume rare-earth exports to Japan. The reporter asked the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson to give some details.
In response, Spokesperson Lin Jian stressed that in accordance with laws and regulations, China banned the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military users, for Japan’s military use, and for any other end-users and end-use purposes that could help enhance Japan’s military capabilities.
“The aim is to contain Japan’s remilitarization and its attempt to possess nuclear weapons,” he said.
“For anything specific, I’d refer you to competent authorities,” Spokesperson Lin added.
