@senatorpennyqld@mndaustralia@MNDQueensland For decades government has been talking about the looming burden of an ageing community. This is @AustralianLabor plan, let anyone over 65 just die, alone and terrified, so they don't have to pay for their care. Care which has already been paid for by a lifetime of work & tax.
@NelsonMogaka_ Because of lack of knowledge
Surgeons typically deal with easy to solve of problems that require a brutal and efficient approach
They lack the knowledge base of the medical specialties which deal with far more difficult to treat problems
The one thing you notice in medical training is how fragile life can be. All of us only get a certain amount of health and time to achieve our own personal fulfillment.
The medical field demands a lot. Your peak earning years, the time that most people use to form a lifelong bond with a mate, having children, owning a home, etc are routinely deferred. This has psychological consequences. For some, enough is enough. The reward just isn’t there.
If we send any patient to the ER who "might have something bad" we end up clogging the ED with benign cases. Then the truly sick can't get care. This case describes a clinician who used sound clinical judgement to manage a patient without the ER. To me, that is an example of outstanding medical care. Because of what this PCP did, his patient avoided the ER, and some critically ill patient with stroke/MI/trauma may have been seen faster.
@TheBossnME@AnnieHQ21 The payments are probably to the wrong account or address in my case. That - and the fact that they are prohibited from given me as much as a disposable pen, in my country.
@ShivaniM_KC@Parody_RCGP@zaynhasn T2D does not happen in isolation. Nurse and pharmacist equipped to examine and manage cardiovascular, renal, peripheral vascular and other comorbidities? It’s not just HbA1c and a flowchart. What about the chaotic or elderly patient?
@tigerpaws247@goodfoodgal@critique378031 Trans men may very well menstruate. Time to develop a more nuanced view of sex versus gender. Disclaimer: I’m a Giggle supporter, not a Tickle backer.
@mgtmccartney Policy makers seem to have fallen prey to the delusion that patients present with diagnosis, not symptoms. Based on this premiss their solutions are doomed to fail. Yet they persevere with regularity in their futile approach and wreck what is left of primary care in the process.
Australian government pushed to incentivise universal bulk billing practice economic models. Then, once the (somewhat tarnished) golden handcuffs were applied to about 1000 clinics - immediately withdrew significant funding from complex chronic disease and mental health.
@Parody_RCGP@Megsenmumdr The algorithm always ends with see GP
Abnormal results
Normal but still symptomatic
Normal and asymptomatic but have further questions
@salltweets@bindelj it stunned me that she went on about it. She never mentioned "trans men" the ones who could actually get pregnant ( because they are women) but kept harping on about 'trans women' who cant get pregnant ( because they are men)
Healthcare is probably the only profession where people think it's okay to argue what the professionals on what they know. Nobody argues quantum physics with physicists, or law with lawyers. But everyone is an expert in healthcare.
