Forests do more than produce oxygen.
They store carbon in trunks, roots, and soil, and they help regulate local rainfall.
When large areas are cleared, that stored carbon can return to the atmosphere and regional water cycles can weaken.
One practical step communities use is protecting existing mature forests while restoring degraded land, because older trees often hold more carbon than newly planted ones.
What is one local tree species or forest area near you that people rely on?

Kenya is taking another step towards shaping its participation in global carbon markets. Today, the Guide for Strategic Engagements in Carbon Markets is being launched.
The guide builds on the Climate Change (Amendment) Act 2023, the Carbon Markets Regulations 2024, and the National Carbon Registry, launched in February 2026.
One thing that stands out is Kenya’s national carbon budget capping international carbon transfers at 10 MtCO₂e through 2030, roughly 1.67 Mt a year.
Why does this matter?
Because Kenya should not sell carbon credits today that it may need to meet its own climate commitments tomorrow.
So, what does this mean?
Kenya is putting safeguards around how carbon credits are developed and sold internationally.
The focus now shifts to implementation:
How will projects be selected?
Will allocation decisions be transparent?
Will communities receive the benefits they are entitled to?
And will carbon credits complement emissions reductions rather than replace them?
What can I do about it?
If you’re a business: understand your emissions before relying on carbon credits.
If you’re an investor: ask about additionality, safeguards and benefit sharing.
If you work with communities: make sure communities understand their rights and benefits.
And for all of us, pay attention to how this market develops.
Carbon markets can create economic opportunities for Kenya. But success should not only be measured by how much we sell. It should also be measured by the climate impact, transparency and value created for Kenyans.

🇺🇸🧲 Going vertical in North Carolina, America’s rare-earth magnet ambitions are becoming physical.
Vulcan Elements has completed the tilt-up of all concrete walls at its huge 1.1-million-square-foot NdFeB magnet manufacturing facility in Benson, North Carolina, a major visible construction milestone for a project targeting 10,000 metric tonnes of annual magnet capacity.
The scale already deployed is striking:
🏗️ 7,164 tonnes of 100% US steel
👷 More than 400 construction professionals on site
⏱️ Nearly 400,000 construction work-hours
🧱 28,000 cubic yards of concrete
🪨 56,000 tonnes of stone
🛣️ 5,600 tonnes of asphalt
Supported by a US$1.4 billion public-private partnership with the US Government, the Benson project is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs and manufacture sintered NdFeB magnets for defence, semiconductors, robotics, drones, AI infrastructure, vehicles and other strategic applications.
🧲Vulcan already operates a smaller commercial magnet facility in Durham. Benson is the industrial-scale expansion, with initial operations targeted for 2027, although full-capacity timing has not yet been firmly disclosed.
⚛️ OXIDE ➡️ METAL ➡️ ALLOY ➡️ MAGNET ➡️ MOTOR
🏗️Building the factory is essential, but the ultimate test will be commissioning, qualified non-Chinese feedstock, magnet-grade metal and alloy supply, customer validation, yield, quality consistency and a successful ramp to nameplate capacity.
Concrete walls make progress visible.
Qualified magnets flowing reliably to customers make the supply chain real. ⚙️🔗
A serious construction achievement, and one worth watching closely as America rebuilds a strategically critical industrial capability. 👏🇺🇸

🇮🇷Iran's oil exports have fallen almost 90%📉
Kpler puts Iranian crude loadings at 248k b/d in August.
In March and April, two months into the war, they averaged 1.85M b/d.
The peak was February, the month the war began, at about 2.2M b/d.
Kharg Island used to load nearly all of it.
In August it loaded about half the total.
The rest came from Jask, Sirri, Lavan, Soroosh and Assaluyeh.
The 🇺🇸US blockade, reimposed on 13 July, did the damage.
Loadings recovered in June and July, then fell back to May's lows.
Meanwhile Iran's Gulf neighbors are back to 98% of pre-war crude exports, according to JPMorgan.
Iran's cushion is the 80M+ barrels it already has at sea, per Kpler.
My take is that those barrels can keep Tehran going for a few months, but they won't pay for a war.

Statiq, GLIDA & Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam have opened the city’s first public EV charging station. @StatiqIndia
It is the first of 20 stations planned across the civic area.
The first phase will add 100 public charging points under a PPP model.
The civic body is providing land while private partners will operate the sites.
Charging will be offered at a nominal cost for residents and commuters.
@GlidaIndia already operates more than 1,000 charging points across India.
