@hispanicnomad I agree, and you'll also find them in Santo Domingo Incredibly well maintained, and the main park in Santo Domingo, Mirador Sur, is open 24/7 with no fences or gates. You can walk in or out anywhere, and even though there's little police presence, it's completely safe.
Wanted to add that one of the best things of Dominican Republic is the incredible air connectivity with North America and Europe. You can literally go to the two largest airports here, Las Americas or Punta Cana, without checking timetables, and know you’ll be on a direct flight with available seats within hours to any major hub in North America or Europe. Flight times to the USA are extremely short, Miami is 90 minutes for example and New York maybe 3.5 hours. Madrid is longer, but you’ll be there in 8.5 hours.

Thank you. When I upgrade my phone I’m going to keep the banking apps on my old phone so if it does happen it won’t be disruptive. I do think it’s important to note that this can happen in Barcelona or Madrid as well. The last time I felt unsafe as on a train in a European country, not here or in Paraguay.
@hispanicnomad@Optimumlatte69 I agree with this as well. What attracted me to Paraguay and why I will spend part of the year there from now on is precisely that it’s so far from away!
