Sabbath day golf always feels a little bit better

Spent some time with the @Nike Golf team at Omni La Costa during the Men's and Women's National Championships. We're entering a really interesting era of golf. The next generation didn't necessarily grow up through the same lens as the last.

Different influences. Different motivations. Different pressures. College golf might be home to some of the best amateur golf in the world right now, and it's a fascinating place. Nike has a lot happening beneath the surface.

Fun day at NCAAs. I’m convinced the average driving distance at this event would be longer than if tour pros played it. These kids SEND it. Also one of the slowest practice rounds ever—teams have to finish by afternoon because BYU doesn’t play Sundays and plays their “third” round on the practice day so they’re off when the other teams play their third round on Sunday. So tee times with 6 players on each team are 12 minutes apart and it takes years.

We are grateful that the NCAA accommodates BYU policy not to compete on Sunday.

They gave us the opportunity to play our Sunday round on Thursday. We will join the other teams for the official round 1 tomorrow.

The NCAA men's division 1 golf championship starts today. They play four rounds of stroke play (Friday - Monday), followed by match play for the top 8 teams.

BYU does not play on Sunday, and they are allowed to play their "3rd" round yesterday... before any other team plays their first round today.

As an FYI, the field has a cut after round 3. Only the top 15 teams advance to the final day of stroke play. So, definitely increased pressure during the third round if you are around the cut line.

Weather/conditions can be variable throughout the day, but weather/conditions days apart can be very different as we all know.
