그래미가 뮤지션이 받을 수 있는 최고 영예였던 시절이 있었습니다. BTS 역시 그래미를 원했고, 황금 축음기(그래미 트로피)를 든 아티스트들을 동경하며 그들과 함께 무대에 서는 것을 꿈꾼다고 공개적으로 밝혀왔습니다.

Yet they have been awarding Canadian and British Artists with the same privilege as American Artists for decades and describe themselves as "the world's leading society of music professionals" — focus know the word "WORLD"

It's only when it came to Latin, African and Asian Artists asking for their rightful place that the narrative suddenly switched to "it's an AMERICAN AWARD SHOW" well,, then they should specify that and stop marketing themselves as a Global Standard for Music and taking submissions from all countries only to snub them, it has been 68 years too long of hypocrisy and gaslighting.

El Comité Nobel no le concedió a Han Kang el "Premio Literario Asiático", sino el Premio Nobel de Literatura. Esta diferencia, aparentemente insignificante, es la clave de la actual controversia de los Grammy.

BTS declinó presentar su trabajo para los Grammy de 2027. El motivo fue la creación de una nueva categoría: "Mejor Interpretación Pop Asiática". El grupo declaró: "Queremos que nuestra música se escuche por lo que es, sin divisiones por región o idioma".

A primera vista, esto podría parecer un signo de reconocimiento. Pero en realidad, podría significar división. Crear una categoría aparte para la música asiática podría marginarla de las nominaciones principales. Por lo tanto, tales explicaciones solo alimentan las críticas. Y, ante todo, la identidad asiática no es un género musical. El jazz, el rock o el country sí lo son. Asia no.

La identidad asiática no es un género musical, sino una raza y una región geográfica. No existe el "pop europeo". No hay categorías como "pop británico" o "pop blanco". Ed Sheeran y Adele no pertenecen a una categoría aparte basada en la raza. Sin embargo, Asia comprende aproximadamente el 60% de la población mundial, decenas de países e idiomas. Y todo esto se combinó en una sola categoría. Es más, uno de los requisitos de nominación era la interpretación de canciones en idiomas asiáticos. Resulta que la división no se basa en la música, sino en el origen y el idioma.

La reacción de los organizadores es aún más extraña. Si bien afirmaban que "no hay exclusión", borraron discretamente las grabaciones archivadas de presentaciones anteriores. Aunque aseguraron que los artistas aún podían ser considerados para las categorías principales, sus acciones contradecían sus palabras. Como si dijeran: "¿Cómo se atreven?". Primero, demostraron su autoridad borrando el video. Esta es precisamente la reacción que suelen recibir quienes se atreven a denunciar la injusticia. Incluso si las intenciones eran buenas, el resultado sigue siendo la división racial. Un escenario aparte no implica necesariamente respeto. Por lo tanto, la negativa era la única respuesta correcta.

Creo que BTS rechazó la oferta de los Grammy no por hipersensibilidad. El problema radica en el sistema mismo. Cuando la raza se convierte en una categoría musical, se convierte en una jaula. Y por muy bellamente decorada que esté, una jaula sigue siendo una jaula.

El verdadero respeto no proviene de crear categorías separadas, sino de poder estar en el mismo escenario y competir en igualdad de condiciones. Esto, en mi opinión, es lo que sucedió con Han Kang.

Han Kang simplemente ganó el Premio Nobel de Literatura. No se trata de un "Premio Nobel Asiático de Literatura" aparte, sino del mismo Premio Nobel que todos los demás. Eso sí es verdadera autoridad.

Y este no es ni mucho menos el primer caso. Tras la triunfal actuación de Bad Bunny en los Grammy de 2026, se creó una nueva categoría: "Mejor Canción Latina". Cada vez hay más intentos de incluir la música en idiomas distintos del inglés en categorías separadas.

Para mí, la conclusión es clara: BTS no necesita los Grammy, pero los Grammy sí necesitan a BTS. Esta historia no hizo sino dejarlo aún más claro.

I’m not going to agree. Grammys have, before, recognized lesser known artists for their music. It has to be great music, it has to be earned. Lesser known artists shouldn’t be recognized just because they happen to be from another region, especially if their music isn’t truly deserving. Again, there should not be participation trophies for this award. I am Asian too and I feel immense pride when, say, an Asian actor wins a main award, I wouldn’t feel the same if they won the same award but in a marginalized best Asian actor category. The recognition and impact is NOT the same, the respect is NOT the same and THAT is what’s going on here.

It is more he traveled to Sk in 2024 to talk about the creation of an award ceremony called Asian Grammy Awards, he met with k labels, and people of the industry.

The thing is that this category WAS created bc of BTS, whether they admit it or not. BTS would have won this category with one of their more Korean songs from the album and since the voters would have given them this token Grammy they would have lost the main categories. And honestly it shouldn’t be a participation trophy award show that gives lesser known artists more opportunity, this award is for those that have earned their place and recognition to be there in the first place. It took BTS YEARS of hard work and breaking down barriers to get recognized and respected. Other groups need to do the same thing for themselves but as BTS broke that ceiling it is already easier for them. If they put out music that deserves a Grammy then they should be recognized for it in a regular category amongst their peers in the industry across the world, not in a marginalized category that limits their recognition. You should not want that box for your faves.
