We've refactored our OTA tooling, and it now lives in its own repository. Additionally, we're testing the OTA to update Nitrux 6.0.0→6.1.0.
The OTA will be available within the next 12 hours.

Developing the Hardware Compatibility Validation Layer for @Nitrux_NX is the single best thing I've done.
Before it, dozens of videos just shitting on the distribution running on a fucking, underpowered VM. Now? None. Zero.
It is amazing.
I think the term "daily driver" has been diluted so much when folks talk about #Linux distributions, that instead of simply meaning "usable" or "functional," it seems to mean "Windows-like".
I was checking out Kontainer (nice project, by the way) for a GUI for #Distrobox. I clicked on the About entry in the hamburger menu, and lol, I see #Nitrux is still setting trends in #KDE software, huh.
💪😎
Nitrux 6.1.0 might be the most INSANE Linux release of 2026.
This is not a normal distro update anymore.
It’s basically an entire next-gen Linux ecosystem shipping at once.
• Linux kernel 7.0.8
• Hyprland 0.55.1
• Qt 6.10.2
• KDE Apps 26.04.1
• KDE Frameworks 6.23
• NVIDIA 595 drivers
• Wayland-first desktop stack
• massive MauiKit 4.0.3 overhaul
But the deeper you read the changelog…
the more ridiculous it gets.
Nitrux added:
• Valve’s dmemcg-booster tech
• YubiKey support for LUKS
• U2F PAM authentication
• realtime scheduling support
• Raycast-style launcher integration
• x86-64-v3 optimizations
• PipeWire latency tuning
• deep Hyprland + Wayland optimization
And the built-in apps got HUGE upgrades:
• browser security hardening
• encrypted password manager
• ad/tracker blocking
• split-view persistence
• better terminal rendering
• Photos-style image editing
• markdown split-view notes
• smarter media management
Honestly…
Nitrux doesn’t even feel like “just another Linux distro” anymore.
They’re building their own entire Linux platform.
Nitrux 6.1 brings Linux kernel 7.0 with CachyOS patches, updated KDE components, MauiKit 4.0.3, and Hyprland 0.55.

UPDATE: systemd devs merged support for storing the user’s birth date for age verification, since the xdg-desktop-portal project is adding an age verification portal that needs a data source for the user’s age 👉https://t.co/wsL8fSXYTT https://t.co/ZbhJT8hZiW
Nitrux 6.0 is out with a CachyOS-patched Linux kernel 6.19, the new VxM hypervisor orchestrator, and several Wayland-native system components.
