ONEUS Q&A: “Our new song ‘Grenade’ is basically ONEUS… We put our whole heart and effort into it.”
https://t.co/x2TkSyeYJH
ONEUS has announced the start of a new chapter.
Today (the 20th) at 6 PM, ONEUS will release their single album “原 (Won)” on all major music platforms. The title “原” means their origin and a new beginning. Rather than simply going back to the past, ONEUS tells a story of rebirth, facing their roots and being “born again” in a new way.
The title track is “Grenade.” Members Keonhee and Hwanwoong participated in writing the lyrics, adding strong emotion and making the song even more complete. Built around a heavy bass, the track captures intense, strong emotions. It stands out for its bold sound progression, building tension to the maximum, like bottled-up energy suddenly exploding.
Q. It’s been about 7 months since your last release. How do you feel about coming back with “原”?
Leedo:
This is our last album with RBW, our first album of the new year, and also a comeback with a new style. The words that fit best are “the last” and “a new beginning” at the same time. It feels weird, but that also makes me excited.
Keonhee:
Since we recently reached our 7th debut anniversary, I looked back on our journey. I realized we’ve run forward so hard, and it made me want to grow even more. I hope this album becomes the chance for us to take the next step forward.
Hwanwoong:
I’m excited because I think we can start 2026 in a powerful way with “原.” It’s a new challenge for us too, so I’m looking forward to how people will view this new side of ONEUS.
Xion:
This is our first album of 2026. I’m thankful we can greet our fans with a new album during our 7th anniversary year. Since this album carries the message of a new beginning, I also wanted to share the message that ONEUS will show even more in the future.
Q. “原” represents ONEUS’s origin and beginning. What do you personally think is the “origin of ONEUS”?
Leedo:
I think the origin of ONEUS is the people who love us. ONEUS, Tomoon (our fandom), and everyone who has supported us. Because people recognized us and gave us love, we were able to keep standing on stage.
Xion:
I think it’s “us.” We’re all different, but we came together as one team, and over time we created own unique color of ONEUS. Now, our color is ONEUS color, and that itself is ONEUS.
Q. Keonhee and Hwanwoong wrote lyrics for the title track “Grenade.” What did you focus on?
Keonhee:
I started by thinking about what we truly wanted to say as ONEUS, in line with the album’s theme. If a part didn’t feel sincere enough, or didn’t feel like it matched ONEUS, we boldly removed it.
Hwanwoong:
At the beginning, I wrote lyrics while imagining situations that match the word “Grenade,” which is the identity of this song. A grenade is in a state where the pin has been pulled, and you don’t know when it will explode. That strangely reminded me of us, throwing our whole hearts toward our goal without stopping. I tried to capture those opposite feelings: confidence and danger.
Q. Since you’re known as “leading performers of 4th-gen,” expectations for the “Grenade” performance are high. Any key choreography or killing parts?
Hwanwoong:
Even though the performance is nonstop and intense, I want people to focus on the clean, sharp movements. The main highlights are: the chorus choreography that looks like pulling out a grenade pin with your teeth and throwing it, parts expressing a dangerous and urgent situation, and the “explosive” part that signals a sudden turning point.
Q. This is also your last album released through RBW. It must feel emotional.
Xion:
I think this is the first time I’ve ever felt emotions like this. I first started music at RBW, so I wondered if this is what it feels like to leave home and step out into the world. I’m scared, but also excited. This may be our last album with RBW, but we’ll continue to greet you with even more music as ONEUS, so please keep watching us.
Q. Lastly, what would you like to say to Tomoon?
Leedo:
ONEUS is back in 2026 with a new album. We worked really hard to prepare music and stages we’ve never shown before, so I hope Tomoon will love it. Please give us lots of love and support.
Keonhee:
Tomoon! Thank you for joining and supporting our new challenge. We’ll show you lots of different music and stages. I hope we’ll stay together for a long, long time, and please support us during this promotion too!
Hwanwoong:
We prepared amazing songs and performances that will blow away Tomoon’s worries and stress all at once. Even though this winter is cold, I hope you enjoy it in a hot, passionate way. Let’s truly burn it up this time. I love you, Tomoon.
Xion:
Our To Moon, I’m so happy we can meet you like this from the very beginning of the new year. Based on the trust we’ve built until now, I hope you can fully enjoy everything from your place. We prepared with all our effort, please give us lots of love. Thank you always, I love you🖤
