New programs require that we work as a community and organize around student success. We also must ensure the integrity of mathematical content in our courses and pathways.
Join me later today for a panel: Rigor in the First Two Years: Implications for Math Departments #AMATYC2019 with Roxy Peck, Alycia Marshall, and David Bressoud.
Looking forward to this event on 10/29! Free and open to the public.

A positive experience in a math course might actually create a pathway. I'm working with students who would not have been in class before. It's hard to guess which students will do well in advance. We should be more skeptical about what students need to know to succeed.
I’m teaching the corequisite for freshman Calculus at UT Austin, and it’s a revelation. The corequisite movement has changed the profile of students who are able to succeed in substantive courses with mathematical integrity.
