After centuries of conquest, colonisation, famine, loot and plunder - through Congress rule, communism, Maoism, and TMC governance - Bengal still produced some of the greatest thinkers, philosophers, spiritual leaders, freedom fighters, revolutionaries, writers, and artists in Indian history. Not to mention the founder of today’s BJP and the first Prime Minister of undivided India.

The British Empire began to crumble when Bengal rose. And once again, what emerges from Bengal will send ripples across the entire nation.

The hope for change was always alive. What once seemed like a pipe dream is now a reality.

Congratulations to everyone - especially the people of Bengal.

I could never understand the dichotomy surrounding juvenile offences. If someone is old enough to assault and rape, then they are old enough to be held fully accountable under the law.

When we fail to protect our daughters, it reflects a collective failure of society as a whole. This girl’s life has been changed forever. She will carry this trauma for the rest of her life, and now she must also live with the fact that justice failed her too.

Very sad, may God give her all the strength!

At the end of the day, he’s an actor. Delivering lines convincingly is literally his job. But this performance can’t erase his crass, insensitive, and apathetic remarks on the 2021 post-poll violence - or the many other times he’s shown exactly who he is.

And spare us the emotional posturing. His child wasn’t even born until 2025.
