and no, bts did not "give up" on the grammys. they made a conscious decision to stand by their art instead of conforming to the categorization the industry keeps forcing on them. refusing to let ur artistry be reduced to a language or region based label is a statement in itself.
okay but seeing bts go from wanting a grammy more than anything and being genuinely excited to not giving a fuck because of how many times the industry has played in their face… my heart is hurting
All seven BTS members stand united in their decision not to submit to the Grammys this year. ✊
"We’ve decided not to submit our work for this year’s Grammy Awards. We hope music will be recognized and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language. Thank you, as always, to ARMY and everyone who supports us." 🔥
it saddens me as a fan to know this will mean that arirang wont get the industry recognition it deserves but it makes me prouder as a fan to know that bts know their worth and knew arirang and the group would never get respected if they let the grammys reduce them to their race
“we hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being categorized by region or language” they saw through that new category bullshit and decided to not submit to the grammys even though arirang is their most successful album to date. bts i fucking love you
for bts not to submit one of their biggest albums to the grammys this year is huge and i respect them for that. so much was poured into arirang and its message and i feel like it wouldn’t sit right with bts at all especially with the new category the grammys put out
