#Hyderabad- Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a sub-inspector of Keesara police station red-handed accepting a ₹5 lakh bribe.

The accused officer has been identified as SI Gnanender Reddy.

According to preliminary information, Circle Inspector Arkepalli Anjaneyulu allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh from a complainant for granting station bail to an accused. A deal was reportedly struck for ₹5 lakh to be handed over to the SI.

The SI allegedly received the ₹5 lakh in a car near Keesara lake while he was on Ganesh immersion duty. ACB officials reportedly caught him red-handed. On seeing the ACB team, the SI allegedly tried to flee.

Searches at police station, officials' residences

The complaint reportedly followed allegations that the police officials had been harassing the complainant over chemical tests and demanding money. There were also allegations that the complainant was repeatedly asked to bring biryani and cool drinks over the past few days.

Following the trap, ACB officials continued searches at Keesara police station and reportedly searched the officials' residences as well. The operation was being conducted under the supervision of ACB DSP Majeed Ali Khan.

Late last night, the anti-corruption bureau caught Keesara SI while taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on the instruction of the CI.

The bribe was for granting a station bail.

After the news of the arrests of CI Anjaneyulu, SI Jnanendra Reddy, locals gathered and burst firecrackers in celebration.

Anyone who went to the station with a complaint was apparently made to bring biryani and cool drinks. They were apparently tortured for bribes and threatened with consequences.

Keesara SI takes 5 lakhs bribe on immersion duty, ACB traps him

An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team on Wednesday caught Keesara sub-inspector Gnanender Reddy while he was allegedly accepting ₹5 lakh near Keesara lake during Ganesh immersion duty. The trap followed allegations that the station inspector and SI had been demanding money from a complainant and, in the past few days, had also allegedly asked him to bring biryanis and cool drinks.

According to information available, Keesara inspector A Anjaneyulu allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh to provide station bail to an accused. A deal was reportedly reached for ₹5 lakh to be handed over to Reddy.

Complainant alleges repeated demands for food, drinks

The complainant allegedly approached the ACB after being subjected to difficulties in connection with chemical tests. He also alleged that the officers had been asking him to bring biryanis and cool drinks for several days.

The ACB laid a trap after receiving the complaint. Reddy allegedly collected the ₹5 lakh in a car near Keesara lake while he was on Ganesh immersion duty.

ACB officials reportedly caught him red-handed while receiving the money. Reddy allegedly tried to run after noticing the officials.

ACB searches Keesara station, officers’ residences

ACB officials continued searches at Keesara police station and at the residences of the officers, according to the officials.

The searches were being conducted under the supervision of ACB deputy superintendent of police Majeed Ali Khan. Further details awaited.
