BREAKING: MAGA pressure builds but Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde stands strong — refusing to back down after calling Donald Trump out to his face at the National Cathedral stating: "I won't apologize."
She's killing them with kindness and it's driving Republicans insane...
"I don't hate the president, and I pray for him. I don't feel there's a need to apologize for a request for mercy," Budde told NPR's All Things Considered.
"I regret that it was something that has caused the kind of response that it has, in the sense that it actually confirmed the very thing that I was speaking of earlier, which is our tendency to jump to outrage and not speak to one another with respect," she added. "But no, I won't, I won't apologize for what I said."
She voiced similar sentiments on MSNBC—
"We’re in a particularly harsh moment now when it comes to conversations around immigrant populations in our midst," Budde told Rachel Maddow. "And so that was the reason for the … tone I took now, but it could’ve been a very different tone in a different context."
The fact that Trump and his MAGA supporters are so incensed about Budde's sermon says far more about them than it does her. These so-called "Christians" were exposed to a message of love and mercy from a real Christian love and it's breaking their brains.
"I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared. There are gay, lesbian, transgender children, Democratic, Republican, independent families — some who fear for their lives," the reverend said as Trump sat in the pews.
"The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meatpacking plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals — they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals," she added.
Trump himself responded by attacking Budde as "nasty" and "not compelling or smart" after her moving sermon. This is the man that Evangelicals voted en masse to support. The hypocrisy is enough to churn your stomach.

BREAKING: MAGA world melts down as Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde calls Donald Trump out directly to his face during a sermon at the National Cathedral — urging him to find compassion and mercy.
This is the last thing Trump expected today...
"I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared. There are gay, lesbian, transgender children, Democratic, Republican, independent families — some who fear for their lives," the reverend said as Trump sat in the pews.
She said that millions of Americans "put their trust in you."
Destroying Republicans lies about migrants, she said that those workers "pay taxes" and are "faithful members" of American churches, mosques, synagogues, and mosques.
Appealing to empathy that Trump lacks, she said that the children of those migrants "fear their parents are going to be taken away."
"Find compassion," she added, urging him to help vulnerable people fleeing from war zones and persecution — a tall ask for a man as demonstrably anti-refugee as Trump.

Tiktok has been banned in the US on the grounds that China could use it "to manipulate and control Americans by spreading propaganda and misinformation." In other words, China *might do* exactly what Elon Musk *has done* with X.
It's a blatant double standard.
🚨BREAKING: California Governor Gavin Newsom just released a new website to combat misinformation being spread about the wildfires in LA. This is huge. Please rely on this website and its accurate information—not Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

This is Ann Telnaes, a longtime political cartoonist for the Washington Post. She resigned yesterday after owner Jeff Bezos blocked her cartoon criticizing Donald Trump and billionaires supporting him from being published.

Possibilities of democracy have been hijacked by corporations and wealthy elites.
Political donations are effectively bribes to shape public choices, with no accountability of the donors.
The only effective remedy is to ban all donations/bribes.

Happy New Year, everyone! Thank you for all the love, support & friendship you’ve shown me during an extremely difficult eight months. I couldn’t have got through it without you. I’m off on a short sabbatical to get some rest & make plans for 2025. Wishing you the best, Sangita x
Owen Jones does a long investigation detailing how the BBC intentionally skews its coverage of Gaza to obscure Israel's genocidal crimes there. His paper, the Guardian, has slots, including the Long Read, for precisely such work. Yet the Guardian doesn't publish Jones' piece.
Instead, he has to take it to an online site, and cover his own costs, of £20,000, to legal the article.
Why did the Guardian not run such an important article by one of its biggest-name writers?
Is the answer that what Jones reveals about the BBC's editorial manipulations – presenting Israel in the best light possible – applies to the Guardian too?
That just as at the BBC, there are parts of the Guardian newsroom in near-revolt at their outlet's complicity in genocide?
That Israel's narrative enforcer at the BBC, Raffi Berg, has a counterpart at the Guardian named Jonathan Freedland?
Is the problem that Jones' article is a little too close to the bone for the Guardian?

in the meantime, here is the correction to the politically motivated perversion of the historic record. I remain hopeful the @OxfordUnion will remedy their error in good faith, integrity, and loyalty to the truth above all.
today, the @OxfordUnion set the original version of my speech to private (see screenshot) and uploaded an edited version, one minute shorter, seemingly following zionist pressure. see their statement on the matter.
such modification of my speech and censorship is unethical and contrary to the ideals they purport to uphold. this censorship and perversion of my remarks comes after the original YouTube video had garnered hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments in less than one week, which was apparently was bothersome to zionists.
whereas the previous leadership of Ebrahim Osman-Mowafy withstood zionist bullying, his tenure ended in early December, when a new president took office. the usual zionist threats are working on him, it seems.
as Palestinians struggle to make our voices heard in the midst of a genocide, it is particularly egregious for the @OxfordUnion to bow to the very same forces committing that genocide.
it was bad enough to have been in the same room with genocide apologists and individuals who've actually murdered or caused the murder of people, but to find out that my speech has been edited to cater to them is intolerable.
the @OxfordUnion has not seen fit to issue statements, retractions, or other forms of censorship in the case of some truly abhorrent individuals that they've hosted in the past, such as Tony Robinson or Tzipi Hotovely.
Robinson was sent to prison for repeatedly inciting violence against refugees and Muslims, Hotovely made public calls to genocide against Palestinians. her remarks were so vile that it provoked calls for her expulsion from the UK.
and yet it was my speech that they saw fit to edit. why?
I demand the original speech be reinstated in its entirety as it was previously posted.
for the record, thanks to https://t.co/WbuiYFZfLT, the originally posted version cannot be erased from the web: https://t.co/2pKMZsgihA
In April, I was ‘disappeared’ from air at LBC. It was a disorienting, distressing & isolating experience. Unknown to me, 1 listener, a respected scientist, began an unprecedented petition to express his concern. 40,000 of you signed it. I’d never met that listener, until…
