The general social & other media, some politicians and some people shaming the Bandi Bageerath POCSO case survivor, exposing her identity, and going so far saying - “nothing will happen to the accused, the survivors future is a question mark”.

This sets a precedent scaring any and every survivor of a sexual harassment case, with the kind of media circus that even women are getting involved in.

This is a terrifying future for the girls who may want to seek justice but will decide not to, because of the media circus : and have more rapists run free, especially in a country where they get bail easily anyway.

No wonder this society stood up in arms when we speak about consent.

Nowhere else have I seen the depravity that I am seeing here with the 17 year old minor victim, saying words like HoneyTrap, shaming her, revealing her address, name, family - going against every rule book in a POCSO case. Neither have I seen the amount of whitewashing for an accused who seems to have a checkered past with physical abuse and harassment caught on camera, anyway.

The failure of the people to question, is telling and yet, not surprising. The core belief to side with a perp than a survivor is telling.

A huge majority here slut-shames women on social media, the standard abuse is "you prostitute". And for men who speak for women's rights - they say "wear a sari and bangles"

Bottomline - girls are unsafe; please take them and run. Safeguard your sons too, if you don't want them to turn out like the pricks. Take them far, far away, safer, in a society that thinks progressively and is not calling women who dress according to their will - A Veshya or a "Daridra Munda". The greater problem - there is a whole set of women, including one in politics that I saw and was appalled by, who believe such abusive men are right and women shouldn't give them a 'chance' to abuse and rape.

The recent POCSO case involving Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar Garu, has deeply disturbed me.

I strongly believe the #POCSO Act was created to make sure every minor girl gets justice no matter what.

Power, position, influence or status should never come in the way. Every girl deserves equal justice under the Constitution and the law.

Cases involving minors need real urgency, transparency and accountability. Any delay, silence or selective action only damages public faith in the justice system.

This is not about politics or personalities. Truth must come out and justice must prevail.

I sincerely hope the investigation and every legal procedure is carried out with urgency, fairness and transparency, free from any pressure or influence.

#Justice must not only be done but also seen to be done, proving once again that no one is above the law.
