Food processing industry has the highest employment generation per crore of investment. Exactly what the country needs right now, especially given the need to increase the PCI in gangu belt and its geographic constraints.
Though it should not be read the same way for pharma
Sweden's own crime-prevention authority found that people with a foreign background accounted for 43% of homicide perpetrators despite being just 21% of the population. Anyways, this is hardly just Sweden's problem.
Also, the universal necessity to shield perpetrators' identities in such cases is just beyond me.
Yesterday in Sweden, a father tried to stop three men from groping his daughter at a fast-food restaurant.
They beat him to death.
As of now, the perpetrators’ ethnicity is being censored…
While there is no doubt that women’s participation in higher education has increased, something important to look at is their limited presence in STEM. Only 33.3% of researchers globally are women, and women make up just 35% of students in STEM fields.
The flare-up of socialism was not limited to the 97.5% tax rates. Only 0.5–1% of tax units were taxable b/w the 1920s & 1980s, leaving India with high rates but a narrow tax base, one of the major factor behind CG'S FD rising from 4.1% of GDP in 1975–76 to 8.4% in 1990–91.
TIL at one point of time india had 97.5% marginal tax rate. it was brought by indira gandhi. india’s 97.5% marginal tax rate in 1973–74 failed to boost revenues and instead encouraged tax avoidance, evasion and capital flight.
TIL that the term “Third World Country” was originally used to describe countries that were essentially aligned with neither the US nor the Soviet Union.
Japan’s “hometown tax” lets taxpayers redirect part of their income tax to municipalities of their choice. India could adapt this for hill states or rural municipalities facing out-migration. Let taxpayers direct a small share of their tax to their hometowns or rural districts.
Read a friend’s Substack on Rahul Gandhi’s Chhatron Ki Goonj programme in Pune. The issue isn’t him using Manusmriti. Hinduism isn’t tied to one book. The problem is using a secular platform to target a text from the Hindu tradition. Interesting piece, give it a read
Coming from a law background and regularly reading research papers published by Indian universities and academia, I can say that this idea of putting “equity before truth” has created a growing trust deficit, at least for me.
This is really sad:
When psychology professors are asked whether they'd put the truth before social equity concerns, 66.4% of male professors said yes, but fewer than half of female professors (43%) agreed.
In both groups, too many put equity before truth.
CUET’s viability can only be optimised if, instead of allowing individual colleges to switch to Class 12 marks, DU publishes all remaining seats course-college wise and lets every CUET-qualified student re-rank their preferred vacant college-course combinations
After Australia, now New Zealand is doing it too. Both democracies, btw. If India even tried this, we’d be called authoritarian and a new CJP would probably be born to defend the “rights” of 8 year-olds.
It is interesting how Deng responded to the continuous protests in China after Mao’s death demanding democracy.
Most interestingly, he stated that “socialism cannot be defended or built up without dictatorship.”
its so sad to see this brainrot analysis
debt was just a tool, a lot of other countries have taken one and gone down the hill, sovereign debt crisis of greece is not very old
actually eye-watering is to credit china's growth to debt over its execution efficiency
@TheWand68425335 imo it should just transform into something like nasa and fund/run unprofitable projects that are still important but cant be hived off to private sector
any extra role for this org is just white-collar MNREGA
this should be the unofficial state policy now, we tried bowing down to american pressure but if that doesnt work out, we cant let them armtwist us constantly
FCRA should be the final dent if ppl are willing to listen
