Narcissists often get offended by differing opinions
(especially from close people)
due to their fragile ego and deep need for control/validation.
Key Reasons:
• Fragile Self-Esteem:
They maintain a “superior” false self to hide insecurity. Disagreement feels like a personal attack or proof they’re not special/right → triggers narcissistic injury.
• Narcissistic Rage/Injury: Any challenge threatens their grandiosity. They see it as criticism, rejection, or betrayal, leading to anger, dismissal, gaslighting, or sulking.
• Lack of Empathy + Fusion: Friends are often viewed as extensions of themselves (not separate people). Different thoughts break this fusion and feel like abandonment.
• Entitlement & Control: They expect agreement as “supply” for their ego. Differing views undermine their dominance and superiority.
Vulnerable narcissists may withdraw or play victim; grandiose ones lash out or belittle.
This stems from early conditioning (conditional love, over-praise) and brain/empathy differences.
Healthy relationships tolerate differences—narcissistic ones struggle with that.
Something I realized about Detroit rappers and from the Midwest in general is that they don’t really focus on mainstream success, they just wanna get money. And they can get money from being loved in their hometowns
