@SODASam_ Put up barriers when we feel threatened. We are more aware of what people say and how they say it as well as how they treat us and I now call out this behavior although it can have detrimental impact still if not believed. Not content to put up with things. Find it hard to trust
@sarajcox As a teacher my most random gift was from a student in my tutor group who gifted me this the other week for context it's a small frying pan that fits one egg! I am a history teacher!
Yesterday I had an asthma incident which left me without a voice still managed to teach my yr 9 class with hand signals and pointing for them to answer questions. They all rallied so lesson was completed work done in books so proud of them for just getting on with it.

Exemplar #1 to try and explain to ppl why teaching is hard and why so many quit: Imagine that meeting you've got this week that you are preparing for, thinking about and have 'pencilled in', with other adults, where you can have a relatively informal and relaxed convo with them.
Now multiply that by 20-30, throw in 30 unpredictable kids and add the possibility you'll have someone tracking you in each and every meeting.
How tired would you be by Friday? Then start again Monday.
I gave one of my year 8 classes the opportunity to adopt a history critter for half term if they wanted to. They have to name them, send me updates and make sure they get a daily dose of history to survive. The updates have already started.....#History#historyteacher#critters
@ccwild79 Totally agree. As an adult I have definitely felt this throughout my career, soon as they hear care system doors close. Guessing its their fear of us letting them down when in fact it's the other way round. We are far more resilient more reliable than they give us credit for.

I do wonder how many of these parents who insist secondary-aged children should be allowed to use the bathroom whenever they want would pull over immediately on a motorway if their kid said they had to pee, or if they'd ask them to wait for a more appropriate time.
