What a joke. Let the kid run. What would they prove by not allowing him to compete? All they'd be doing is tainting the competition because everyone knows the results of that race won't mean anything if you aren't racing against the best.
This is insane. This year's state meet should be one of the best of all time -- PA has several of the best runners in the country, and Drew leads that group!!
This is an outdated, arbitrary rule that can only hurt the sport.

Though not officially a national record, Drew Griffith put together a historic 8:38.67 2-mile race at Notre Dame on Saturday.
Griffith's race was still an all conditions U.S. No. 1 time and passes Cheserek's esteemed mark -- oversized track or not.

In the track and field era we live in now, these kids who are nationally ranked need these bigger meets to showcase themselves to run faster times. We should be encouraging them to attend these meets; it brings more attention to the sport.
