AMERICA IS BUILDING AGAIN
Two years after Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, nearly 425 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway are now open to drivers because of President Trumpโs commitment to rebuilding the stateโs infrastructure @USDOTFHWA๐
Today, FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster joined @Interior and @NatlParkService officials to inspect recovery sites and celebrate a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to rebuild North Carolinaโs infrastructure.
Marking two years of Hurricane Helene recovery and renewed re-investment by the Trump Administration, leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Phase 2 of the Blue Ridge Parkwayโs recovery work. Now, 421 miles of the 469-mile Parkway are officially reopened to the public!
When Hurricane Helene hit in September 2024, it caused the most severe damage in the Parkway's history, triggering 60 landslides and washouts across 200 miles of roadway in North Carolina alone. Because tourism and travel along the Parkway are the economic lifeblood for neighboring gateway communities, restoring safe access has been our top priority. FHWA is proud to work tirelessly with our federal and local partners until every mile is safe, accessible, and stronger than before.
