The SIP-045 hard fork reinstated the 1,000 STX block reward on July 30. Total supply at the April 2028 Bitcoin halving moves from approximately 2.10 billion under the prior schedule to approximately 2.16 billion under the restored reward, a difference of 2.9% over the next 21 months. Extended through April 2030, total supply moves from approximately 2.26 billion under the prior schedule, which steps down to 250 STX per block at the 2028 halving, to approximately 2.40 billion under the restored reward, a difference of 6.2%. Annual issuance changes as follows: 2026 (6.4% to 7.8%), 2027 (6.6% to 7.9%), 2028 (4.8% to 6.3%), 2029 (3.6% to 5.2%), roughly 1.5 percentage points per year.
Figures beyond April 2028 assume the 1,000 STX rate continues unchanged and represent a ceiling. The rate is provisional: SIP-045 mandates an Economic CAB review ahead of PoX-6, where emissions will be reviewed for potential reduction, with PoX-6 expected before the April 2028 halving. Actual supply through April 2030 will be at or below these projections.
Issuance peaks in 2026 and 2027 at roughly 7.8% and declines from there under every scenario: SIP-031 endowment emissions follow a fixed, declining schedule, and the Economic CAB review can only hold or lower the Coinbase rewards. For context, 2025 emissions across the top 50 chains by market capitalization averaged 15.9%, with a five-year median of 8.17% (source: Artemis). Stacks sits at approximately half that average inflation in its peak year, and below the 5-year median.

Most projects spend time looking outside for growth.
The smartest ones invest in the people already inside their community. (9/9)🧵👇
