🎥 🇰🇼 Prominent journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin has been jailed in Kuwait since March 3 and is facing prosecution before a special state security court on allegations that reportedly include spreading false information and harming national security.
Sharif Abdel Kouddous said Shihab-Eldin’s arrest appears to be tied to his social media posts, including the resharing of footage already circulating online showing a U.S. fighter jet crash near a U.S. base in Kuwait.
Jeremy Scahill placed the arrest in a wider context, arguing that GCC states have escalated repression during the Iran war while advancing a narrative that casts Iran as the sole aggressor and erases the U.S. and Israel’s role in launching the war. He highlighted how Ahmed’s case is part of a broader crackdown on dissent, journalism, and online speech across U.S.-allied Gulf states over the past six weeks.

That’s weird. I’m old enough remember a time when Douglas Murray went on Joe Rogan’s show and told @ComicDaveSmith he had a “journalistic rule” of not talking about or commenting on countries until “I have been there.”
Has Murray “been” to Iran?
You occasionally get a moment that symbolizes everything wrong with this country. In this case it's a U.S. Marine veteran screaming out that no one wants to fight for Israel and a U.S. Senator breaking his arm. A perfect encapsulation of US foreign policy.
@Tairun7@DB56522@HappyPunch Ramadan was 6 months ago. All opinions are irrelevant. The result of two bouts in the octagon is the only opinion you need. One more or less a tie, the other total domination.
Doesn’t matter who it is he made Ank look like an amateur today throwing his arms up totally helpless.
RIP Charlie Kirk. It doesn’t matter what your opinion is of Charlie or his politics if you don’t view this as one of the darkest days in American history than you are part of the problem.

Is it just me or does something about the Carolina Wilga story not make a lot of sense? Road trip alone to non-descript location? No smartphone, GPS or comms? Panics & ditches warm visible car & shoes to trek alone in winter for days? And all gets glossed over in the media? 🤔
@paddymcgarrity @JonnyBones Why insisting on Tom? Why not wait 50 years until Jon is 87 and then get the new champ to take him on?
That way you can definitely get whatever it is you’re looking for.
