@jenniferzeng97 30 or 40 years ago when you were a university student China was orders of magnitude worse than today.

What you see as desperation is just a rounding error of the student population.
Scale matters.
@IAmDouglasKim 100% They went from feeling immensely superior to those who stayed in China to living a lifestyle far inferior to those same people who stayed in just a few short years.
Why accept you made a bad choice when you can cope about the CCP instead.
