What an extraordinarily special morning at the @USHCC national conference, where we heard from Latino small business owners from around the country about the risks they face. That’s why we’re so proud to work with them: to put Kalshi’s financial tools right in their hands: https://t.co/GhVKA5w6iZ

“Lowering health care costs isn’t simply a health care priority. It’s an economic imperative,” writes @USHCC President Ramiro Cavazos.

As health insurance costs continue to rise, small businesses are forced to divert resources away from hiring, expansion, and investment. Addressing #InsuranceAbuses and advancing meaningful reform can help unlock economic growth and opportunity.@RepGuthrie

It's always good to learn something new. Case in point, a new national poll commissioned by the @USHCC and @Airbnb found that #Latino/#Latina adults view short-term rental hosting as an entry point into business ownership & long-term economic independence.

A key takeaway from the @USHCC National Conference: Small business health insurance family premiums surged 50%+ to $26,054. Every dollar tied up in premiums is a dollar not spent hiring, raising wages, or expanding.

"Do more with less" can't mean asking entrepreneurs to absorb skyrocketing costs. Small businesses aren't asking for special treatment. They just need a healthcare marketplace that is as competitive as the one they operate in every day. 💡

I grew up in Brazil dreaming about what I might build one day.

I came to the US for college, fell in love with this country, and eventually built Kalshi here.

Today I had the honor to be on stage at the @USHCC conference where I met so many Latino entrepreneurs who took a chance on themselves and built something of their own.

That’s why I’m so proud Kalshi is partnering with USHCC to help more business owners protect what they’ve worked so hard to build: whether they face inflation, seasonal swings, or fluctuating costs, they deserve access to financial tools to protect against the future.

This one means a lot to me❤️

PS: I promise I had ironed my clothes :(

Small businesses are facing disruption amid immigration enforcement operations nationwide, impacting sales, workforces, and local economies in red and blue states alike. We need bipartisan solutions that protect public safety, provide workforce stability, and uphold due process.

Honored to share that I’ll be speaking at the 2025 United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce @USHCC National Conference this 23th of September in Atlanta, GA.

I am humbled to be part of an incredible panel on International Trade, Tariffs, and the USMCA, moderated by Anthony Hinojosa of the USHCC, and to share the stage with inspiring leaders such as:

- Stephanie Carvajalino, Co-founder of @thebiznation_  — a true example of the power of our Hispanic entrepreneurial community. A special highlight for me is speaking alongside my Cohort 18 colleague at LBAN Latino Business Action Network Business Scale Up program at @Stanford

- Ramiro Cavazos, President & CEO of the USHCC

- Monika Mantilla, CEO & Co-Founder of @Alturacap Capital

- @CheechMarin , cultural icon, actor, and philanthropist

- @chandabell, Co-creator of @elfontheshelf and CEO of The Lumistella Company

- @NicholasSegura, Founder & CEO of @SeguraMarketing

- Megan Boland, Public Policy at Mastercard

This is a special opportunity to represent @LazzarUSA and @LazzarMexico , where over the past two decades we’ve scaled from a small business into a company serving thousands of businesses across Mexico and the U.S., selling over 1.2 million garments annually. I’ll also be joining our CEO, @LazaroOrdaz, as we host a booth at the conference.

Have you attended the USHCC Conference before? I’d love your advice and tips in the comments. And if you’ll be in Atlanta, please stop by our booth and let me know — I’d be thrilled to connect.

Today I joined my friend Ramiro Cavazos, President and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, for a press conference to highlight the importance of the Tomato Suspension Agreement. This is a quiet but critical trade deal that keeps grocery prices stable, trade lanes open, and our supply chains moving.

Here in Texas, over 150 businesses and thousands of workers depend on this agreement. Ending it could cost our state up to 32,000 jobs, $4.5 billion in losses, and raise tomato prices by 17 percent. Families would feel that impact directly at the grocery store.

Some have questioned the agreement’s effectiveness, but the facts are clear. Over 99 percent of imported tomatoes meet U.S. standards, with no evidence of widespread dumping. Ending it would hurt not just Mexican exporters but also American distributors, grocers, and workers.

This is an issue with broad support from businesses, trade experts, and community leaders who agree we should strengthen and modernize the agreement rather than abandon it.

The agreement also plays an important role in regional stability by supporting jobs on both sides of the border and easing the economic pressures that drive migration. I would respectfully encourage the Department of Commerce to continue engaging in good faith and give diplomacy the space it needs to deliver a solution that protects workers, consumers, and producers alike.

The Tomato Suspension Agreement is one of those behind-the-scenes policies that quietly keep our economy and communities strong. We must protect what works and improve what can be better through cooperation, common sense, and a shared commitment to fairness.

We partnered with Reimagine Main Street, a project of the @pps_institute, on new national data that shows 3 in 4 small business owners are using or exploring AI, but barriers like security, complexity & unclear ROI are holding them back.
