1983 supposedly the year when internet was invented, the 8 year old me would have coffee twice a day growing up in a household that probably went through at least 3-4 litres of coffee a day: The maids would be given coffee twice a day, grandma had a special tall steel tumbler she carried insulated in her pallu,
and that would contain scalding hot pint. First thing in the morning , after breakfast, elevenses, 4pm coffee were routine, plus anyone visiting the house for more than 5 min would be brought coffee to drink.
Our hello how are you is worded “Coffee Aayta” - had your cup?
This was not just our house but up and down the street, city and south Karnataka.
A generation prior to that would roast the beans and pound it every single day at home.
(Tea was alien and I remember people holding their nose in disgust when for the first time tea leaves were boiled in our kitchen by a cousin).
Huge Bengaluru IT crowd my foot.
Spoke to a young boy who is religiously following @mundhebanni. He is a BCom graduate and has built a small website that offers doorstep delivery of printed notes for students. He attracts top students from colleges to upload their handwritten notes on his platform and sells them to other students, sharing a cut with the original authors and creating a small passive income for them.
I was initially skeptical of the idea, wondering who really needs printed notes delivered to their doorstep. I was surprised when he told me that 800+ students have used his service so far, and he has generated ₹5 lakh in revenue over the last 6 months.
I asked how students find his service, and he said he used Claude to get SEO working for him. That is how students discover his platform. From figuring out the most efficient way to print in bulk, to shipping, to handling orders on the website, he has worked everything out on his own using Claude. He is a Kannada medium student with no background in tech whatsoever.
As much as we talk about Gen Z’s sense of entitlement, we should also talk about their agency in figuring things out on their own. 😀
He built a company that made 800 crores in revenue, was operational in 25 cities across India with 25-30% market share in every single city and then he did the most unimaginable thing. He pivoted the entire focus from India to overseas market, took some crazy bets and pulled them off to build a 11,000 crores global seafood giant.
What a story this is!

Today, India takes a defining step in its civil nuclear journey, advancing the second stage of its nuclear programme.
The indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam has attained criticality.
This advanced reactor, capable of producing more fuel than it consumes, reflects the depth of our scientific capability and the strength of our engineering enterprise. It is a decisive step towards harnessing our vast thorium reserves in the third stage of the programme.
A proud moment for India. Congratulations to our scientists and engineers.
