They really let a UFC fighter call our only Black First Lady a man on the White House lawn at an official White House event … while thousands cheered and the biggest podcaster in the world smiled.
There is no economic policy fix for this. Many of these people are just racist.
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Whatever [the next outbreak] is, we ain’t ready for it. We still have anti-vaxxers running around.”
“I don’t trust scientists. I saw a YouTube video, so I’m not going to take it.” (mocking)
“I don’t want you to ever forget this story.”
“20,000 years ago, we’re in the cave. Do you know what the life expectancy was?”
Shannon Sharpe: “10 years? 15 years?”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “30. Half of everyone born was dead before they were 30.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Wow!!!”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Fast forward to 1840… everyone born in the world was dead by the age of 35. We gained five years of life expectancy. And every one of them ate organic, breathed clean air… Science matters here.”
“We’ve doubled the life expectancy with antibiotics, vaccines, and sanitation. The three biggest forces operating on our longevity. So to come around and say I don’t need vaccines because I’m not getting sick, that’s like saying, why are you using dandruff shampoo? You don’t have dandruff.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Well, I don’t want to get it.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “That’s my point. If you’re successful, people think you don’t need it when that’s what’s creating the ongoing success in the first place.”
Sen. Kaine: If you’re a trans kid watching this hearing… there is some intentional effort to make you feel bad about yourself, but you have a lot of people who love you. You have a lot of people who support you. … You are a beautiful precious person. You are made and precious and worthy of love as you are. You have a lot of people who love and care about you.
Imagine if a woman president crashed the economy and started a war with no end in sight, and her biggest, seemingly ONLY concern was building a ballroom and redecorating the White House.
You’re asking the wrong question: How is it that white people do not understand that voting overwhelmingly Republican hasn’t improved their lives in decades? Republican presidents have been responsible for the last 5 recessions. The job creation under Republicans vs Democrats in the last 50 years isn’t even close. Trump has given the 1 percent the wealthiest tax cut in history. Republican-led states such as Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana rank in the bottom in every important metric. Donald Trump is the most corrupt president in American history and overwhelmingly supported by white voters.
But you’re coming at Black voters?
Abdul Carter when asked if Jaxson Dart apologized, via @SNYGiants:
"Nah, I don't want him to say he's sorry. Stand on what you believe in, but it can't be a problem when I stand on what I believe in.
James Talarico: “We were not founded as a Christian nation. We were founded as a nation where you are free to be a Christian or a Jew or a Muslim or a Sikh or Buddhist or an Atheist. That’s the promise of America that we are this multicultural melting pot”
Will some of y’all stop pretending you care about domestic violence? You’re upset that I criticized Jaxson Dart and here’s your weak ass little gotcha.
Meanwhile, when I was speaking out about what happened to Rickea Jackson re: James Pearce, none of y’all clowns were anywhere to be found.
I have a pretty consistent and lengthy track record when it comes to my opinions on players who commit or are accused of domestic violence.
No, I’m not going to speak on every single incident that happens, because I don’t always feel the need to and I have every right to do that.
Talarico: I’m an eighth-generation Texan. I’ve been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment. And if all they have on me is lying about me being a vegan, I feel pretty good about our chances this November.
65 years ago yesterday my dad was part of a group of heroes arrested in Jackson, MS while participating in the Freedom Rides. This is what it takes. This is what it’s always taken.
He was 20 years old.
Pregnancy gets 9 months of attention. Labor gets a hospital stay. Postpartum gets one 15 minute checkup at 6 weeks.
But postpartum is the longest medical event of your life. Your hormones don't return to baseline for at least 6 months (longer if you are BF). Your pelvic floor takes a year (at least). Your bone density takes longer. Your brain is remodeling itself for years. You're metabolically recovering for as long as you breastfeed.
We have completely undercounted what this season actually is. And too many women are doing it all alone.
@cbdubs@emilykmay Same! My kids will have a parent at every event as long as we can possibly manage it. It means we have old cars, a modest house, and thrift store shop, but the trade-off is worth it for us.
