After reviewing USTR’s report on Section 301 tariffs, @POTUS is directing me to take further action to encourage the elimination of the PRC’s unfair tech transfer-related policies and practices that continue to burden U.S. commerce and harm American workers and businesses.
.@POTUS: “U.S. Steel has been an iconic American company for more than a century. It should remain an American company. American owned, American operated by American union steelworkers – the best in the world.”
.@POTUS: “Bottom line: I want fair competition with China, not conflict. And we’re in a stronger position to win the economic competition of the 21st century against China or anyone else because we’re investing in America and American workers – AGAIN.”
.@POTUS and I take these allegations of the PRC’s non-market policies and practices against the shipbuilding industry seriously.
I pledge to undertake a full and thorough investigation into our unions concerns.
The past three years have yielded record export numbers for U.S. agriculture. USTR is committed to delivering for U.S. farmers and producers - big and small.
USTR is working with our partners around the world to open up new markets and deepen our ties in existing markets, helping our ag producers bring more U.S. products to customers around the world.
American farmers are also key to the domestic production of renewable transportation fuels, including corn ethanol, biodiesel, and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and we have seen increased demand domestically for feedstock to supply these important industries.
USTR is prepared to use our trade tools in the Administration’s efforts to stand up to the PRC. That includes this morning's initiation of a Section 301 investigation into the PRC's longstanding efforts to dominate the maritime, logisitcs, and shipbuilding sectors.

.@RepDelBene: "You have notched some key wins for Washington's economy—thank you—such as reopening India's $120 million market for Washington apples." 🇺🇸🍎 ➡️ 🇮🇳
FACT CHECK: This year’s NTE Report has returned to its statutory purpose: as a more useful document that enumerates significant trade barriers that USTR will work to address to expand market opportunities and help our economy grow.
