The Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Act of 2024 is up for passage in the U.S. House tomorrow. This bipartisan, bicameral bill will accelerate efforts to clean up abandoned mine lands which predate modern environmental laws and mining industry best practices.

Today, the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity awarded @kennecottutah a post-performance tax reduction for a potential expansion of its mining operation in Salt Lake County. The corporate incentive is part of the state’s Economic Development Tax Increment Financing (EDTIF) program.
