Today, as part of our nation’s 250th anniversary, items were unveiled that represent Utah in America’s Time Capsule, to be opened in 2276. Included from Utah are Olympic pins from the 2002 Winter Games and the upcoming 2034 Games, pieces of the cornerstones of the Utah Capitol and Salt Lake Temple. These items reflect chapters of our history that tell the story of where we came from and where we are going.
February’s unemployment rate came in at 3.8%, the same as January. Utah’s job growth for Feb. increased an estimated 0.7% across the past year, with the state’s economy adding 11,600 jobs. The national unemployment rate is 4.4%, 0.1% higher than Jan. 2026, and job growth was 0%.
Utahns lead the nation in volunteering, and there are so many of you engaged in important service work that often goes unnoticed. We want to recognize you!

It'll be a hot one today, particularly over northern UT where highs will approach daily records. Thankfully, a dry cold front will bring relief from the heat by Wednesday with highs near normal over northern UT, though southern UT will stay on the warm side. #utwx
