1984 BYU Cougars was the 1st (and only) team since the start of the AP Poll (1936) to win the title w/o beating a team ranked in the Top 25 at the season's end.
@jjfuller72@3YearLetterman Yet this convo started because a non-Ute national guy pointed out it’s the most underserved NC of all time. A very commonly held opinion for anyone outside of Provo.
Who is the best team they beat?
@disagreebutter Don’t be ridiculous Thomas Wright knows all those places well. Traveled there in his Gov campaign and he hunts southern Utah frequently.
Let me tell you about Ben McAdams.
When he was first running for office, he called me. Not because he knew me, but because I was Black Caucus chair, and that was the only reason. I was on the phone with him and immediately texted the group chat. If you’ve ever been in an identity caucus, you know how close that community is. My community started sending me questions in real time.
The biggest one: the Crown Act.
I asked Ben McAdams about the Crown Act, discrimination against our hair, one of the most significant Black civil rights issues at the time. His response?
Please educate me.
I was dumbfounded. I spent 30 minutes on that phone call educating him.
And then he got elected to Congress. Black Caucus never heard from Ben McAdams again. The Crown Act came to a vote in his chamber in September 2020 while he was sitting in that seat. He was nowhere.
That didn’t stop us, though.
In the ten years I’ve been in Salt Lake County, Black Caucus has helped grow Black representation from one elected official to over seven. We have representation not just in Salt Lake County city councils, but in Davis County too. We have a Black Afro Latina leading the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. We have grown our representation. We have grown our power.
Ben McAdams has not grown.
Maybe he can answer a question about the Crown Act now since I just posted this. But what I do know is this: he spent two days experiencing homelessness, then turned around and championed Operation Rio Grande. Politicians sold it as a treatment program. The ACLU found the truth: 5,024 arrests, nearly 80% for misdemeanors or active warrants, and 13 arrests for every single person placed in treatment. It was a mass incarceration operation dressed up in the language of care.
He watched a mental health and addiction crisis and reached for handcuffs.
That is the Ben McAdams I know.
And that is why I will never support him.
Still looking for someone to explain how the University of Utah sold equity in an entity owned by the people of Utah? Taxpayers own it, now someone else owns it? Please explain.

Tom Chambers was better and more recent than Danny Ainge. Scott Pollard was raised LDS though and was better than Merril.
Merril is the best LDS player since Pollard tho.
The Runnin’ Utes have picked up a commitment from American Fork guard, Bryce Mella. Previously signed with Utah State, Mella opened up his recruitment after the coaching change. He will serve a church mission first and then join the program after his two years of service.
