“We know this may not be the news you had hoped for…your best days are ahead of you.” These words from my MT rejection reminded me that setbacks do not erase potential. It has pushed me to keep pursuing my graduate dreams with persistence.

I graduated with a CGPA of 4.62/5.0 in Mechatronics Engineering from Abiola Ajimobi Technical University. My passion for innovative solutions to address local community needs sparked my interest to pursue graduate studies in Data Science and AI.
If you want a fully-funded scholarship in 2026, read this.
Seven (7) terrible mistakes not to make when applying for a scholarship:
1. Missing Deadlines: Ensure you submit all required documents and applications before the stated deadlines. Check the School website to confirm this.
2. Incomplete Applications: Double-check that you've filled out all sections of the application and attached the necessary materials.
3. Ignoring Eligibility Criteria: Make sure you meet all the requirements for the scholarship before applying. Read the requirements of all schools very well.
4. Generic Essays: Write personalized essays that demonstrate your genuine interest, experiences, and goals. Don't do copy and paste.
5. Lack of Recommendations: Obtain strong letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your abilities and character.
6. Not Proofreading: Thoroughly review your application for spelling, grammar, and formatting errors.
7. Applying to Few Schools: Cast a wide net and apply to multiple schools to increase your chances of success. Each program has a maximum student that it can admit.
Most time, they deny you not because you're not an excellent student, but because they do not have space to accept new students.
No matter what stage of life you are in, you must master giving, either your time or resources.
If you still have a mindset of giving when you become better, just know that you are inherently selfish, and great people don't think that way.
Selah!
