And rather than fixing it, guess what the govt is doing?

Arguably the biggest football in Lagos, the derby between Sporting Lagos vs. Ikorodu City that is supposed to be this Sunday, September 6, at the Onikan stadium has been postponed indefinitely.

Just guess the reason?
It was postponed for an APC rally at Onikan Stadium.

An official NPFL football match fixed, where people have travelled from far and wide to watch, bought tickets, and prepared for, but a misplaced and mis-planned political rally is more important?

The Super Eagles missed their second consecutive World Cup this year, after missing Qatar 2022.

Super Falcons for the FIRST time in history, failed to qualify for the 2027 Women's World Cup.

The Golden Eaglets U-17 did not qualify for the 2026 U-17 AFCON and the 2026 U-17 World Cup

The Flying Eagles U-20 missed the 2027 U-20 AFCON and the 2027 U-20 World Cup.

The U-23 Eagles did not qualify for the 2023 U-23 AFCON and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Senior football is failing.
Women's football is failing.

Lagos State hosted FIFA matches just few years ago inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium & I think we slept on it as we didn't quickly improve the Stadium.

If Teslim Balogun Stadium can be officially opened, that means we will have 4 Stadiums (Uyo, Kaduna, Lagos & Enugu) with FIFA standard & it will give the nation a face-lift.

No matter how you see it, it is a shame that after many years and despite all the funds available, Lagos does not have a world class stadium that can even beat the one in Akwa Ibom.

I think about this almost everyday. Lagos should be the sports capital of Nigeria.

Agege & axis is a big hub for talents. Agege was the venue for Pepsi academy training as well.

After 5 years, the stadium was left unfixed.

Just imagine the talents wasted cos of lack of basic facilities?
