It was built as a tomb for all those who's bodies weren't recovered from WW1, with later conflicts included. Many see it as the gravesite of their lost loved ones and treat it with the reverence of such.

@PrincePhil_M @Bren4Bassetlaw For clarity it's a cenotaph, an empty tomb. Originally a wooden structure after WW1 for all the families who had lost someone and no body had been recovered - it was their tomb. It is not a memorial, but a grave.

@WalkerMarcus I wonder if it was easy to predict? CofE effectively stated they were a non-essential service unlike tesco or B&Q. This at a time when they were spiritually needed most. It left some of us very alone and very adrift from a faith which didn't appear to want us. Why come back?

IR35 shifted the penalty for tax evasion to employers, making it unpalatable to employ freelancers. Now UK has a shortage of HGV drivers

@johnredwood IR35 directly caused the closure of my IT company. I now do the same job, changing clients after every project. The difference is I'm employed by a non UK company who pay me less, so I pay a 3rd less tax in the UK. The remaining money? Where do multinationals pay tax? Not in UK?

What it isn't is a biometric identity card that you are required to carry that could allow the gov to block your ability to buy food. Based in your gender, creed, religion or race. Happened elsewhere these introduced.

Medically she can't have this vaccine. Are you saying you support vaccine passports, which potentially could lead her to be refused entry to Tesco?
