I think the importance of environment, ie-school, parents, community in shaping the kid has increased exponentially recently

We had simpler lives, fewer choices - commerce, science, engineer or doctor.
These things are totally obsolete now in a hyper dynamic world.

The ability to learn, re-learn, fail, get up, redo and expose oneself will be critical to contribute productively.
