Three girls reported missing from Chorgalia, Nainital

Three girls, Babita Bhatt, Sunita Bhatt and Anjali Pal, have reportedly been missing since the morning of September 18, 2026, after leaving for school. They have not returned home since.

Another video from Champawat shows a sick woman, Keshvi Devi, being carried in a doli to reach the main road because her village still does not have road connectivity.

According to villagers, this is not an isolated case. Four patients have reportedly been carried by doli in the last two months.

What makes this harder to ignore is that Champawat is the Chief Minister’s own constituency.

The road was announced in 2024. Surveys have been conducted twice for the roughly 4-km stretch from Dabchoura to Sim Kainyuda. The department says the proposal is now awaiting forest clearance.

But on the ground, people are still carrying patients on their shoulders.

Videos like this keep coming from the hills. Villages have waited for roads for years. Many have been forced to migrate, while those who stayed have simply learned to live without basic connectivity.

This is not about politics. A road is a basic need. And if people are still using a doli to reach one, the promises clearly haven’t reached them yet.

For 25–30 years, villagers have been asking for a pedestrian bridge across the Ghanghli River. It still hasn’t come.

During the monsoon, schoolchildren and villagers are forced to cross the river at their own risk. When the water rises, children sometimes have to take an additional 3-km route just to reach school safely.

These are not perfectly sized potholes. And these children don’t have Instagram accounts to make a reel about filling them.

Video from Chanauda on the Almora–Kausani Road near Someshwar, Uttarakhand where children have taken matters into their own hands and are filling potholes themselves.

Anyone who has travelled on this highway knows how bad its condition can get.
