@KayleeMiata@ZARZ98646419@Gato_Mmod3@Narugit Calling their ability to literally express their desire or uninterested in something as a “reflex” is watering down their behavior when its much more complex than that
@KayleeMiata@Gato_Mmod3@ZARZ98646419@Narugit And yet several dogs have used communication buttons to express thoughts, feelings, wants, needs, what it sees, ect. There are many documented cases of dogs using buttons to uphold basic conversations. Its not solely them pressing a button that says “treat”
@KayleeMiata@Gato_Mmod3@ZARZ98646419@Narugit Animals can very well grasp good vs bad intentions? Which causes them to react either negatively or positively. If a person is approaching an animal with mannerisms that are hostile, the dog will gather that the person has hostile intent
Has it not been shown some species are intelligent enough to communicate basic sentences through buttons after being taught and understand what they are saying?
Saying animals can consent ≠ animals can have sex, thats one part of it.
Animals consent to things every single day. Ignoring the fact animals have clear display with body language and even verbal cues of “yes” and “no” is concerning. Do you not wait for dogs to allow you to
touch them? Pet them? Do you not wait until they Sniff your hand and give the signals that they want to be handled? Or do you just go in blindly without gauging the dogs comfort esp if its one you are unfamiliar with?
@KayleeMiata@Gato_Mmod3@ZARZ98646419@Narugit So valuing whether or not an animal wants to be touched, handled, picked up, ect and learning/understanding when the animal is saying “yes/no dont touch me” is not consent? Isnt important? Taking your animal out to walk and grooming them is a needed care, but again
@KayleeMiata@Gato_Mmod3@ZARZ98646419@Narugit Saying that miscommunications is only a human thing is bizarre when we can 100% misunderstand other animal body/verbal language what are you on about
@KayleeMiata@Gato_Mmod3@ZARZ98646419@Narugit Do you think dogs are really stupid when science shows they can be incredibly smart? Several breeds have shown the ability to communicate verbally and form basic sentences through buttons
@KayleeMiata@ZARZ98646419@Gato_Mmod3@Narugit So a dog actively moving away when someone tries to pet/touch it isnt a clear sign of the animal saying “No, I dont want to be touched.” Displaying a preference to what they want is a form of showing consent lmao
