@torquespeak Understandable! Sadly it seems a lot of insurance companies are the same though - I found that when doing my car insurance recently as the firm I was with were cheaper as a new customer. I told them to Foxtrot Oscar and went elsewhere.

@OCDaboutCars @OtisRdg Appears that they are the 1.8 TSI, 180bhp. Seems a lot of the ones for sale on AT appear to be JDM imports. There’s one in black with tan leather that just looks “right”.

@LUDENClassics Personally I think the Golf R basically killed off the Subaru STi and Evo’s. Mostly because unlike those it doesn’t need a service every 30 seconds, it will return decent MPG even if you’re just pottering around town, plus it’s just as practical.

@thealexbear It doesn’t help that the minority of car people driving like absolute tosspots (see the 🛎️🔚 in the M3 Touring that stacked it outside) give places like this a bad rep and people don’t want to be tarred with that brush.

@LUDENClassics Petrol in France isn’t cheap full stop - even normal 95 E10 was nearly 2 Euro’s a litre when I was in Brittany at the start of June. Motorway services were avoided where possible because they were even more extortionate!

@OCDaboutCars I’d be wary of Barking personally. It’s like Bradford and Birmingham. That said you could find a diamond in the rough, though I’d set expectations accordingly and do triple checks.

@lukebot24 WTF1 will be studied alongside the Top Gear reboot and Car Throttle as a case of what happens when the talent goes elsewhere. P1 has gone from strength to strength, as has the AutoAlex multiverse but the original channels have turned into a wasteland.
