This footage shows the collision involving LATAM Airlines Perú Flight 2213, an Airbus A320neo carrying passengers from Lima to Juliaca, which occurred on November 18, 2022, at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru.

While the aircraft was executing its takeoff roll at approximately 131 knots (243 km/h), firefighting trucks conducting a planned emergency drill entered the active runway.

The plane's right engine and landing gear struck one of the fire engines.
The impact sheared off the engine and landing gear, causing the wing to drag along the asphalt and spark a massive fire.
The aircraft came to a stop 2,500 meters down the runway.

Two firefighters inside the struck vehicle died instantly, and a third suffered severe injuries and passed away months later.
All 108 passengers and crew members survived, though 40 passengers were injured.

The Peruvian Aviation Accident Investigation Commission (CIAA) determined that the primary cause was the fire vehicles' incursion onto the runway without express authorization from air traffic control (ATC).

Iain Dale left stunned by calm caller on LBC

A composed caller named Mike told Iain Dale on LBC that Britain “will remain almost ungovernable until we have mass deportations”.

The exchange was striking because the caller spoke in measured tones, clearly articulating a view held by millions of people across the country. Yet Iain struggled to process it, repeatedly falling back on “you can’t do that”.

Mike highlighted the obvious disconnect: the British public have consistently voted for lower immigration, only for politicians to deliver record levels instead.

“There’s a massive disconnect between the political class and the people of this country,” he said. “We never gave any consent to this and there’s certainly no mandate for the scale of immigration we’ve seen.”

When Iain pushed back, saying you can’t deport people here perfectly legally, the caller was unflinching:

Caller: “You mean end indefinite leave to remain?”

Iain: “You can do that for future people but you can’t do that for people who have already got it. That would be outrageous.”

Caller: “Yeah you can. Of course you can.”

Iain: “From a fairness point of view, you can’t suddenly tell people who’ve got a perfect legal right to be here that we’re changing the rules now…”

Caller: “You can, Iain.”

Iain: “Well you can do that but is that really the kind of country you want to live in?”

Caller: “Yes!”

Iain continued to argue that you can’t “take it out on perfectly legal, law-abiding people”, clearly unable to grasp how widespread this frustration has become.

The public didn’t always feel this way. Years of politicians ignoring the public on immigration have shifted attitudes dramatically. As the caller made clear, people never voted for this transformation and the consequences of fixing it now rest with those who created the problem.

Well worth a listen. The gap between Westminster and the rest of the country has rarely been clearer.

While walking through one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Damascus, you will stumble upon many Christian traditions. One of them is this bakery, which has been serving the Church for over 100 years.

For more than a century, St. Hanania Bakery, also known as Abu Suleiman Bakery, has carried on a unique mission. Founded around 1910 by Elias Salmoon, the tradition continues today through the families of the late Gries and Mousa Salmoon, preserving the sacred craft of baking bread for Holy Communion and passing this blessed heritage from one generation to the next.

The bakery is also home to one of the first dough-kneading machines introduced in Syria. In the past, families from across Damascus would gather here before Christmas and Easter to prepare their festive breads and cakes. More than a century later, the same machine is still in use, standing as a reminder of a living tradition that continues to this day.

Gaza is taking its last breaths, and the situation we have reached is extremely dangerous.

Temperatures are rising to suffocating levels, and the tents where hundreds of thousands live have turned into ovens made of fabric and plastic. There is no electricity, no air conditioning, no fans, no cold water. People try to sleep, but heat, hunger, and fear make sleep seem like an impossible dream.

Clean water is scarce, cleaning supplies are almost nonexistent, and essential medicines are unavailable. Skin diseases are spreading in a terrifying way among children and adults, while garbage piles up and sewage mixes with displacement areas, spreading even more suffering.

Long lines form for food, yet many return empty handed. Aid is decreasing, and most relief centers have stopped or are no longer able to meet even the minimum needs.

At night, rats, insects, snakes, and scorpions crawl into the tents, while during the day people face unbearable heat and endless hunger. There is no safety, no privacy, and nowhere to go. Meanwhile, killings and destruction continue daily, while Gaza’s space shrinks day by day, forcing people into smaller and more overcrowded areas.

This is not life. This is not displacement. This is a complete collapse of everything that allows human beings to live with dignity.

What more is the world waiting for? How many children must go hungry? How many patients must die before the world acts? Do not stay silent. Speak about Gaza. Share what is happening.
