Casa Castillo
Las Gravas Tinto 2021
(Jumilla - España)
31 Janeiro 2025
Intense, bright, picot red color. On the nose, red and black fruits, floral notes, spices and herbs. Fine tannins in the mouth, balanced acidity and silky texture. Long and mineral finish.
Lambrusco di Grasparossa! Whoa - definitely different. The aroma of cheap communion wine was not a good start but flavors of super ripe blackberry and a mild effervescence (frizzante) took over. Residual sugar is somewhat offset by high tannins. I would like to try a dry Lambrusco - this was ok for a change of pace but not a regular for me
Verdicchio! Aka Trebbiano (or even Ugni Blanc in France) This one is from the hills in Le Marche on the Adriatic side of Italy. Almost water clear with a tartness throughout. Faint aroma and flavor of raw almond and lemon. Very subtle but it works as a crisp aperitif
Casa Castillo Monastrell
Tinto 2022
(Jumilla - España)

Ruby red color. On the nose, fresh red and black fruits, herbs, floral notes and a mineral touch. Succulent in the mouth, balanced, soft tannins, lively acidity and a persistent finish with freshness.
The most old school of Riojas, recognisable by its higher acidity, lower alcohol (13% in a hot year), and silkiness—and explosiveness. I didn't even need to taste it, it jumped straight out of the bottle. It may not have peaked, but I'm loving it now at 16 years old.
Prosecco Superiore de Bernard

Straw yellow color. Fine and persistent bubbles. On the nose, green apple, pear, floral and citrus notes. Fresh in the mouth, dry and balanced. Elegant finish

My Saturday Selection is this 2019 @caraccioliwines brut rosé from their Escolle Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. This is a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir that shows a nose of nectarine, red apple and kiwi with tastes of peaches, citrus peel and cherries. Cheers.

Long weekend starts now! Any other fans of the Lefèvre family's wine portfolio? Their Saint-Émilion bottles offer tremendous quality for the relatively affordable pricing. Built to age but so good even in bottle youth. Good stuff! 🇫🇷🍷
