#ProtestaresunDerecho

Macroeconomics sounds technical right?
It sounds like something you can’t possibly understand unless you are a trained economist. But, that’s only what they want you to think. You know the they, the ones you’ll never meet, the far away ones whose faces you’ll never know, the big men in the big houses whose faces are on banners all over your public spaces, the ones making all the decisions, the ones with the slogans selling you promises of prosperity, those are the they.
Macroeconomics, or macro-level economics, is how governments try to influence economic activity. It is, simply put, how governments make decisions about how to make money and how to spend money.
Macroeconomic policy is split between fiscal policy and monetary policy. Fiscal policy is about how the government spends money and how they raise this money, mainly through taxation. Fiscal policy is decided by the government.
Monetary policy is how the amount of money in circulation in an economy is regulated; it decides interest rates (which can be understood as the actual price of money or the cost of money as interest rates decide how much you pay for money) and money supply (how much money is put or taken out of circulation at a given time). Monetary policy is decided by the central bank of the country.
