@CoinbaseSupport@coinbase Update on my unresolved $16,970 identity-theft case:
Coinbase’s latest response acknowledges the incident began earlier than previously described and identifies additional unauthorized access on May 29, before the Green Dot withdrawals.
Coinbase has also confirmed this involved session-token compromise: no new login and no new 2FA event from the attacker’s IP.
But Coinbase still has not answered the core recovery issue:
Four unauthorized cash withdrawals totaling $16,970 were sent to a Green Dot account opened using my identity without consent.
Green Dot says return requires originator action from Coinbase.
Coinbase has not provided payment rails, trace numbers, originating processor details, or proof of any recovery attempt with Green Dot.
I’m asking Coinbase Fraud Recovery / Payments Operations / Regulatory Response to stop routing this through generic support and provide a real answer: reimburse, initiate originator recovery, or issue a clear final written basis for refusing both.
@CoinbaseSupport@coinbase I need executive escalation on an unresolved unauthorized fiat-withdrawal recovery case.
Coinbase confirmed in writing that my account was accessed through a session-token compromise: no new login, no new 2FA event, and a previously authenticated session was reused.
During that compromised session, a new Green Dot payment method was added and four unauthorized fiat withdrawals totaling $16,970 were completed.
Green Dot has confirmed the receiving account was opened using my identity without consent and says funds can be returned only if Coinbase, as the originator, provides a Letter of Indemnity or equivalent recovery documentation.
Coinbase has not provided payment rails, trace numbers, originating processor details, or a clear policy/legal basis for refusing institution-to-institution recovery.
I can provide all formal complaint, Green Dot, Police report, CFPB, and Coinbase case numbers by DM to verified official support only.
Please escalate to Fraud Recovery / Payments Operations for resolution.
@GreenDotBank I need escalation on an identity-theft account that received four unauthorized Coinbase fiat withdrawals totaling $16,970.
Green Dot confirmed in writing that an account was opened using my identity without consent, deactivated/locked the account, and flagged my information for identity theft.
Green Dot also stated that funds can be returned only if the originator provides a Letter of Indemnity. Coinbase says it does not issue formal Letters of Indemnity and has not confirmed an equivalent recovery process.
I need Green Dot to clarify what exact alternative documentation or bank-to-bank process it will accept from Coinbase, and whether any funds remain frozen or recoverable.
I can provide all Green Dot, Coinbase, APD, CFPB, and formal complaint case numbers by DM to verified official support only.
Please escalate to the team handling identity-theft recovery and originator return requests.
A year without smart phone, means more quality time with family and friends where I can actually look at them when talking instead of looking at my phone. It may be challenging, but will set a good example for my family and friends.
