We have carefully considered various technologies, including #ZK and #Optimistic #rollups, but ultimately decided that they are not the best fit for our needs. It's common for people to seek opportunities in areas they may not fully understand, but we have focused on developing a robust #crosschain technology that addresses all potential drawbacks. While our approach may be controversial, we are confident in its effectiveness. Why are ZK and Optimistic not good enough for cross-chain? Security: Optimistic rollups have a vulnerability in scenarios with no honest nodes, as a malicious actor could potentially steal funds by taking advantage of the assumption that all transactions are honest. Additionally, optimistic rollups are susceptible to censorship attacks, where malicious sequencers or validators can prevent or delay transactions. ZK rollups provide immunity to censorship attacks, but they rely on a trusted setup to generate the secret parameters for creating zero-knowledge proofs. If this setup is compromised, an attacker could potentially create fake proofs and steal funds. Cost: Optimistic rollups offer the advantage of allowing standard Layer 2 nodes to compute fraud proofs without the need for additional hardware, thereby keeping overall computing costs lower. However, one significant cost factor to consider is the expense associated with posting transaction data to L1. ZK rollups use highly efficient data compression to represent user data with indexes, saving costs for publishing on the mainchain. However, verifying validity proofs may require special hardware, potentially leading to higher user fees. Why are ZK and Optimistic not good enough for cross-chain?

Security:

We should fight #blockchain separation. #TVL (Total Value Locked) is the most important metric of blockchain power and, simultaneously, the biggest issue we should destroy. We want to make #web3 great. But it is impossible to do so with a separate #ecosystem. We are talking about blockchain mass adoption, but at the same time, we invest in yet another #L1 or #L2 solution that adds more separation in our world. Let's stop web3 separation and start doing web3 uniting. YAR is a web3 peacemaker.
