@_soniashenoy@MiraeAsset_IN@mohanty_swarup Please ask about ELSS and Large & Mid cap funds. Were top performers until a few years ago. What worked then and not so much now?
@ZerodhaVarsity Please include any change in the fund manager(s) in the period considered for evaluation, and if the fund is still being managed by the same fund manager(s)
@cricketingview AUS bowling avg in 1999-08 is at par with that of 2016-25, the era of result oriented pitches.
Adjusted for conditions, was the earlier attack better?
What would Mahaveer say about the raging work hour debate?
Unless you are living under a rock, you would have been subjected to wise and other wise views on the debate on how many hours should one work in a week.
Tirthankar Mahaveer in his Jain philosophy has said two things we all need the most right now.
1. Syatvaad - The doctrine of May-be. It says, all judgments are conditional, holding good only in certain conditions or circumstances. The world is a complex place. The word syat means relatively speaking and it signifies that every thing of the universe can be looked at from many point of view.ย Reality has infinite aspects and we know only some of these.ย Our judgments represent different aspects of the many-sided reality and can claim only partial truth.ย Syat or relatively speaking must precede all our judgments. It is being non absolutist in our understanding of the world.
2.Anekantavad. It is the principle ofย pluralism and diversity of viewpoints. It means we cannot always objectively know the entirety of the truth in any situation.
Isnโt it funny that none of us know the absolute truth about anything and yet we will fight anyone that has a counter view to whatever view we have formed out of ignorance or convenience.
Eons back, in my ignorance, I asked Pandit Ramesh Jhule of Kirana Gharana how long does it take to master the voice like he has. He smiled and said, โ Sangeet is a Sadhana - a devotional pursuit. After a lifetime of every waking hour dedicated to Riyaaz, just as I have tried to get my throat and breath ready, I realise that age is destructing them.
Fact is nothing exceptional was done by someone who worked to a clock. If you work by the hour, thats a choice too but then donโt expect results of a Musk, Jobs, Einstein. Narayan Murthy built an institution in a lifetime. But then, not all of us are building Infosys, so we are free not to put in the kind of work he did as long as we donโt expect to build what he did. Fair?
I think we should rest the useless debate by taking the lessons of Mahaveer.
To each their own. Some like tea, some coffee, some neither. Some like their tea brewed, some may like green tea or black tea. Some may like coffee, black, cappuccino, late, cold, hot, with almond milk etc etc. Now what kind of an intellect will debate who has chosen the right beverage?ย I am in Indore and at Chappan, I just sampled Tandoori Tea! One of my colleagues went for a second helping and another discarded the kulhad after one sip.
From politics to the right hours at work, everything is a point of view from where each one of us stands. Neither one is right nor the other is wrong. They are just different and their views would change if where they stand changes.
We are free to choose but are not free form the consequences of our choice.
Think about it. And if you have a different view on it, remember Mahaveer. Perhaps you could be right or perhaps we both could be right. ๐

@Fancricket12 Wasn't comparing wobble with upright seam. By now, I have understood wobble wins. I thought movement with upright seam was mostly random. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Australia (as they are within their rights to) doctored their pitches to take spin out of the contest, just like England, New Zealand and South Africa have been doing whenever India have toured in the last few years.
