June 10th 2026, when PM Sh @narendramodi Ji became India’s longest serving elected PM, marked a watershed in the history of Independent India.
In 2014, Modi Ji inherited an India that was different from how we know it today, which was even more far removed from the one with Pandit Nehru at the helm and the one in which I served as an officer of IFS from 1974 onwards.

The India I represented was a serious country that had chosen to manage scarcity with as much dignity as its machinery allowed. The state had learned to allocate, but it had not learned to deliver. The distance between a scheme announced in Delhi and a benefit received in a village was where the money vanished. The state could plan, but it could not reach.

PM Modi Ji’s inheritance in 2014 deserves the same honest accounting which several of his predecessors were accorded.

He took charge of an economy the markets had filed among the Fragile Five, weighed down by stalled projects, double-digit inflation fresh in memory, and rampant corruption and scams. Modi Ji’s answer was a different machine altogether. The Planning Commission gave way to the NITI Aayog, which convenes the states rather than instructs them. Direct Benefit Transfer emerged as a decisive instrument to pay citizens directly instead of through intermediaries. It moved the test of governance from intention to receipt.

PM Modi Ji reconceptualised the state as a platform. India built public digital rails, an identity system, and a payments network the world now studies. More than 50 crore Jan Dhan accounts opened formal banking to families it had never reached. Nearly 25 crore Indians moved out of multidimensional poverty, and the economy now grows faster than any other major economy. The state that once stood between the citizen and the thing the citizen needed now builds the road and stands aside. That is the substance behind the word Bharat.

In 2014, ethanol blending in our petrol stood at 1.53%. This year we have reached 20%, a target once set for 2030 and met half a decade early, and the money that once left the country to buy crude now reaches the farmer, who is now an Urjadata, alongside the Annadata who feeds us. PM Ujjwala Yojana carried cooking gas into more than 10 crore poor households. This is Antyodaya rendered in litres and cylinders. The last person is no longer the one the scheme forgets. She is the one it is built around even as the government now focuses on women-led development instead of just being women-centric.

The North East gave birth to India's petroleum industry; today, it stands ready to power the next chapter of India's energy journey as Nagaland will produce oil and gas again after 31 years!

With the signing of a historic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Nagaland and Assam, India’s quest towards increasing domestic exploration and production of hydrocarbons under the visionary leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji takes a giant leap as a new basin opens up for fresh wildcat exploration!

Since Assam alone accounts for nearly 22% of India's crude oil reserves and around 15% of the country's natural gas reserves, while Nagaland possesses significant hydrocarbon potential in the Naga-Schuppen Belt of the Assam-Arakan Basin, resources where hydrocarbons flow naturally and those which have huge untapped resources, the outlook for E&P activities in the North East is therefore extremely promising.

By creating a framework for cooperation between the concerned Governments, this MoU signed in the presence of HM Sh @AmitShah Ji, provides certainty to investors, facilitates operational continuity, enables regulatory coordination and creates conditions necessary for long-term investment decisions.

I want to thank the Nagaland CM Sh @Neiphiu_Rio Ji and Assam CM Sh @himantabiswa Ji who rose above differences to chart the way forward for the region and the country.

The resumption of mineral oil operations will generate direct and indirect employment, stimulate local entrepreneurship, strengthen physical infrastructure, create opportunities for contractors, service providers and small businesses, and contribute significantly to the economic development of surrounding communities and the entire NE Region.

PM @narendramodi जी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय कैबिनेट ने अहमदाबाद मेट्रो रेल परियोजना के चरण 2ए (कोटेश्वर मार्ग से एयरपोर्ट गलियारे) को स्वीकृति दी।

इस गलियारे की लंबाई 6.032 किलोमीटर है और इसमें 5 स्टेशन (4 एलिवेटेड और 1 अंडरग्राउंड) शामिल हैं। परियोजना के पूर्ण होने पर अहमदाबाद-गांधीनगर गलियारे में 77.63 किलोमीटर का सक्रिय मेट्रो रेल नेटवर्क हो जाएगा।

चरण 2(ए) न केवल कनेक्टिविटी को बढ़ाएगा बल्कि आर्थिक गतिविधि, पर्यटन को भी बढ़ावा देगा और निवासियों और आगंतुकों दोनों के लिए शहरी आवागमन को आसान बनाएगा।

India has very successfully navigated through the trilemma of energy availability, affordability and sustainability despite geopolitical difficulties involving several major energy producers. While many parts of the world, including countries in our neighbourhood, are facing an energy crisis, there is no shortage of fuel on our retail outlets.

Our OMC’s continue to make losses from the time the current conflict started. An LPG cylinder that should cost around ₹1,642 is available at ₹942 for regular customers with the companies absorbing losses of nearly ₹700 per cylinder; and for ₹642 to the more than 10 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries resulting in a loss of nearly ₹1,000 per cylinder to the OMCs.

PM Sh @narendramodi Ji, who has completed 12 momentous years as the Prime Minister of India, now reaches a historic landmark of becoming India’s longest-serving, hugely popular and globally admired elected PM.

Over the past 4,399 days, India has witnessed transformation across sectors. From economic growth and digital transformation to infrastructure expansion, social empowerment and a stronger global presence, this journey has been shaped by a sustained focus on development and citizen welfare.

After popular mandates in three general elections, PM Modi Ji, who is now serving his third term as India’s PM, became the country’s first PM in three decades to be elected with a full majority in 2014.

It is a deep privilege to be a part of PM Modi Ji’s team and work under his inspiring leadership for implementation of his vision of inclusive development & policies of transformative progress for New India. As a result of my association with @MoHUA_India, @MoCA_GoI and now @PetroleumMin, I got the opportunity to play a role in the implementation of some of the most landmark, visionary and template-schemes envisioned by PM Modi Ji.

Swachha Bharat Mission forms the fulcrum of several other schemes, policies and projects, Smart Cities Mission, PMSVANidhi Scheme, the efforts to rejuvenate India’s urban transport, and develop RRTS and expand the metro network, UDAN Scheme to make air travel affordable for common citizens, and now Ujjwala Scheme which offers subsidised LPG connections and cylinders to more than 10 crore beneficiaries and the India’s momentous quest towards green energy transition and successfully guiding the nation through the trilemma of energy availability, affordability and sustainability under the decisive and firm leadership of PM Modi Ji.

The dream of Viksit Bharat taking shape since 2014 is not just about becoming a developed nation by 2047, but it has ushered in an era of dignity, opportunity and hope for every ordinary citizen. It has made every citizen, particularly those on the margins, an equal stakeholder in India’s journey of unprecedented development.

Under his visionary leadership, India has emerged stronger on the global stage, achieved remarkable progress in infrastructure, innovation and welfare delivery, and strengthened its commitment to inclusive growth. The success of India’s energy diplomacy under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji bears positive results even as the world is faced with serious geopolitical crises. Our energy imports continue uninterrupted even as supply chains choke. We are able to ensure easy availability of fuel for our citizens even as countries worldwide struggle to make energy ends meet. We are able to do this because India has diversified its import basket to 41 sources from the basket of 27 that existed in 2014.
India not only secured its energy needs, but emerged stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for the future.
While many countries struggled with shortages and soaring prices, India protected its citizens because we planned ahead, diversified supply chains, strengthened strategic reserves, expanded sourcing options, and took difficult decisions when required.
PM Modi Ji’s vision has never been limited to managing crises. His vision is to use every crisis as an opportunity to build the future.
India’s ethanol blending programme has grown from approximately 1.5% to the threshold of a 20% blending economy. Flex-fuel technology is creating new opportunities for consumers and farmers. E85-compatible vehicles will provide more fuel choices, lower operating costs, and reduce dependence on imported crude.
At the same time, India is positioning itself at the forefront of the global clean-energy transition. Through the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the country is laying the foundation for a new energy ecosystem that can power industries, create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen energy independence.
