“1/ Native Customs versus Colonial Fictions
In the video below, I speak with decolonizer Nathaniel Smith about his research into Mohican Cory Buott’s archive.
The stamp is from Canada, a settler-colony. Mohicans are not from the fictional territory of Canada. They are from the territory occupied by the other criminal entity, the so-called USA. Such carelessness should offend people who aren’t even Mohican. The invaders then depict the Mohican chief without his thunderbird tattoos because they find them offensive.
To Europeans, did you not consider that you might be offensive? Perhaps everyone in native territory has tattoos. Perhaps only respected people, like chiefs, have the honor of donning them. But not simply any tattoo…perhaps a criminal entity only 159-years-old like Canada doesn’t get it. Worse still, your existence here isn’t even remotely ethical or legal.
Well, I find invaders offensive, especially ones with “tattoos.” There is traditional artistic tattooing weighted by centuries of practice and refinement, and then there’s just ordinary mutilation. Americans especially will mutilate their bodies for no reason, on a whim, and then get angry when you don’t like their tattoos or piercings. Americans also mutilate people in other countries, in addition to themselves.
The inability to tolerate criticism is pronounced in colonists. It’s fragility. You wanted attention. You got it. Such tattoos have no history or tradition here. We’re not obligated to respect them as anything more than artistic fancy. If you’re pro-Palestine, I have no objections…but it’s still just a diversion.
Same principle applies to other countries. The Kalinga of northern Luzon, by contrast, practice Batok. This is a native custom based on tradition, not whim. Batok is the ancient art of hand-tapped tattooing with ink to mark identity, status, and/or martial prowess. The symbolism is meaningful, and so are the four thunderbirds on sachem Etowh Koam. The symbols denote his rank as a Mohican chief. The mythological creature is a symbol of power and the upper world. For me, as an outsider, it’s a strikingly effective way to announce yourself and the esteem of your nation. This is a chief of the Mohicans.
Wearing a suit and tie, however, like Donald Trump or any other bland imperial bureaucrat, is the least impressive way to announce yourself. You’re wearing a leash around your neck like a dog. No one has to respect you or your office. You are not a free person. The inconvenience and theatricality of suits is starting to remind me of the Roman toga. Conquered peoples sought to emulate Roman custom. Those who remained armed and free did not….”

🧵 Iran and its allies have proven they can penetrate Israeli defenses and impose real military and economic costs, but Israel (with US backing) has shown it can operate almost freely over Iran’s airspace once air defenses are blinded, inflicting very serious damage on senior leadership, nuclear infrastructure, and missile forces, without collapsing the government
For every Gaza there should be an Acre. I’m a European so my solutions may not sound right…but I would use them as slave labor to rebuild Gaza and tear down their own buildings. Then I’d put them in prison for life. A lot will want to leave, but I wouldn’t trust them. They need be in prison for life or just liquidated. I don’t think the world would care, ironically, and I think the Yanks and Europeans just want you to deal with their Jewish problem forever.
I agree that Palestinians should not be their caretakers when it’s over. Prison, Europe, or death.
We only have dreams. Just moments ago, the Israeli Defense Minister ordered the military to act against kites launched from #Gaza—even as a kite is simply a child’s dream of flying❤️🩹❤️🩹

A #child of just four years old is added today to the long list of children who have been lost to #genocide.
Imagine, for a moment, that this was your child… then ask yourself: how much pain can a human heart bear? 💔🕊️

Another defeat. Operation Litani 1978 failed. Wikipedia says the Jewish military won…they did not. They would have won if the guerrilla army stayed in one place to be slaughtered.
The PLO just went north, then returned after the invaders retreated. Jewish military failure led to next invasion in 1982.
This historian though is crying about the Coastal Road Raid. Why? I would do the same. You attack my family, I’ll attack yours. And your cat. Also, don’t have kids in other people’s land, stupid.
Leave.

Notes on Palestinian Military Ethos; and Fundraising
I’ll never quit. Even after Palestine is liberated. That’s the soldier’s mentality.
I also understand how discipline works. Not surprised an account like this doesn’t have what it takes. His remarks on 10/7 only served the enemy. Palestinian fighters, Christians and Muslims especially, enter the ranks with the foundation of discipline already there: native religious customs.
What do Western armies have? The point of military discipline is to ensure soldiers behave. An army is a product of its nation, and therefore its behavior reflects the culture. I’ve never seen better disciplined soldiers than Muslims. Nor have I seen higher morale. They answer to Allah, not merely a cheap military manual.
Accordingly, one cannot condemn an entire operation, let alone an entire armed force, just because a handful of people don’t obey God’s Law. The measure of discipline is how often infractions occur, not whether some occur or not. No army is perfect. Hamas, despite being a militia without a formal code, is still better disciplined than any Western counterpart.
That said, on 10/7, no evidence exists to suggest Hamas did anything but trounce a hubristic enemy. HRW concluded that. There were other groups, even civilians. There some hoaxes. Debunked by EI and La Monde.
Here’s the biggest irony: nobody gives a fuck about the Jews. I mean anybody could anything to them and the world would applaud. Who cares? Looks like Muslims and Christians (native ones) care about ethics enough to maintain discipline. I reckon there will still be an Acre…Muslims wiped out the last Crusaders. I think that’s fine, let’s not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Fundraising is a part of the war. Logistics. In a real army you can’t just quit. Nevertheless, I think the superior ethics of the Resistance has rubbed off on some people, even Westerners.

Pretending Yanks are "misled" into supporting imperialism is denial of reality. The U.S.A is Imperialism woven in nationalist mythologies where Amerikans support colonial intrests rooted in genocidal erasure, extraction, dispossession, exploitation, occupation and slavery.
Mahmoud al-Arda — the freed Palestinian prisoner who masterminded the 2021 Gilboa Prison breakout by digging a tunnel with a spoon, now exiled in Egypt — is watching The Shawshank Redemption for the first time. 😸🤍
I wholeheartedly admire Mahmoud Al-Arda btw! 😻❤️
