When my son was about seven, he came home from school one day and told me something that stuck with me.

Son: Dad, there’s a new boy in my class, He’s from Russia, He doesn’t speak any English at all.

Me: Really? That’s tough, How’s he doing?

Son (looking sad): He just sits by himself at lunch, He doesn’t talk to anyone, I think he’s really lonely.

I told him the teacher was probably helping the boy adjust and didn’t think much more about it.

About three weeks later, I walked into my son’s room and found him sitting at his little desk, completely focused on the computer. Google Translate was open, and he was typing very slowly, sounding out every word.

Me: Hey buddy, what are you working on so hard?

He looked up, a little shy at first, then smiled.

Son: I’m writing a note to my friend.

Me: The boy from Russia?

Son: Yeah, His name is Alexei. I wanted to tell him that soccer is my favorite too and that he can sit with me at lunch if he wants. But since he doesn’t understand English, I’m using this to change my words into Russian.

He showed me the screen, He had written: Hello Alexei, My name is [Son]. Do you like soccer? We can play together at recess if you want. You don’t have to be alone.

Then he was carefully copying the Russian translation onto a piece of paper, erasing mistakes and trying again.

I stood there watching him struggle with the foreign letters, his little tongue sticking out in concentration. My heart felt too big for my chest.

Me (softly): You know this is really kind of you, right? Most kids wouldn’t do this.

Son (shrugging like it was obvious): He looked sad every day, I didn’t want him to feel alone anymore. So I’m trying to learn a little bit of his language so he knows he has a friend.

He folded the note carefully and put it in his backpack.

Son: I’m going to give this to him tomorrow, I hope he understands.

That moment hit me so hard.

My seven year old son didn’t wait for an adult to fix the problem, He saw someone hurting and decided, “I’m going to do something about it.”

That was the first real glimpse I got of exactly who he is, a kid with a genuinely big heart who notices when others are lonely and actually does something about it.

I’m so damn proud to be his dad.

I keep thinking about one question:

What would it actually take for humans to safely travel beyond Earth?

I have a theory for dealing with space radiation.

Now I want to keep learning enough physics to understand just how far that idea could go.

@thebaldogarza Thats also a very big problem! I think once we can establish being able to safely travel to space then we can start thinking about speed.

Have you ever tried to take an AP unit one test with only five days of prep. Oh, and you have to teach yourself.
Cause thats what I have to do next Friday.

Next friday I am taking a unit 1 test for AP human geography, while also only being able to find my own sorces and only use those. No help from teachers, And I have to score a five.

And i have never been more ready.

Did you know you can actually see the past?

Every time you look into space, you’re seeing light that took time to reach you.

The Sun? You see it as it was about 8 minutes ago.

Andromeda? About 2.5 MILLION years ago.

So the farther into space we look, the farther back in time we see.

In a sense, telescopes are time machines.

And here’s an even crazier thought:
If you could put a giant mirror far enough away from Earth and somehow look into it, the reflected light could theoretically show you an older Earth.

The universe doesn’t just show us where things are.
it shows us where,and when,they were.

I used to think that flexibility was a natural thing. That if you were in flexible you stayed that way, nothing about that could change.

I was wrong, after stretching every day for two week I finally got my splits.

Who said the same thing couldn't be said for ideas?
NO ONE!
Stretch your mind, if you work every day towards something you are bound to achieve it.

I'm not a fan of what FSD 14.3.7 did in this particular case. It was trying to play it safe with the pedestrian in a curve and moved a little into the opposite lane, and honestly that could be really dangerous.

I've seen so many accidents happen in that curve. I know FSD would pull back immediately if a car were coming, but it would still be an uncomfortable situation for the oncoming driver.

I believe this particular case needs to be reviewed.
