@KeeperOfGamingY@General_Zutt I’m aware that some of the core tech had been developed by 1903, but I stand by my statement. It would’ve been remarkable foresight.
@TheQuartering She was a pilot. She obtained her licence and had a type rating for the aircraft an achievement of which she was justly proud. She was not the pilot in charge, but don’t diminish her achievement by denying her the title she earned just to try to silence some retards.
@maggotspawner@NZ_Trav Sure, sure. In the same way that when you buy house insurance, “what earthquake are you insuring against?” is a sensible objection from your spouse.
@maggotspawner@NZ_Trav That’s a remarkably charitable interpretation of the exchange. I think that framing would be easier to justify if she hadn’t asked, “what wars are you hoping to win?”
@Clint_Davey1 This helps explain why lines of infantry could blast away at each other without all dying immediately, but also means light infantry needed to be very good at estimating range through thick clouds of black powder smoke while being shot at.
@Clint_Davey1 Which means it was very easy to have your shot fall short or overshoot if you estimated distance incorrectly. This was more pronounced with rifles which shot over a longer distance than smoothbores.
