Designed the v66 plasma canon PCB! Simple setup for controlling LEDs. Used a MOSFET so even a tiny switch can handle power.

Working on a cyberdeck-style cover for my MacBook Air!I tested out some weathering on just half of the bottom panel, but I think I went a bit overboard with the grime... 😅The goal is to make it look sci-fi cool, but clean enough that it won't look out of place at Starbucks!

Built a custom camera gunstock! 📸💥
Features a fully functional two-stage trigger: half-press to focus, full press to shoot.
Connects to the camera via a 2.5mm jack (and works with smartphones using an adapter!).
Video and more details coming soon! 🎬

Found out why VFA kept showing up despite finding the perfect speed in test prints. Turned out the model was slightly off! Sure, auto-orienting by clicking the 45° face with 'F' should set it to exactly 45° in theory... except the source model was actually 43°. Well, no wonder standard speeds gave me VFA 🤣

Wiring model for the cannon WIP. Or is it a neural map? Since it's made with 3D sketches, I can check the exact wire lengths—super useful for actual assembly. It's not just for looks.

I've decided to change my naming convention. This one is going from VGP-53 to VG-53-G, which stands for "VALiMA Gear 53th type=gadget".
The other one I'm working on, the cannon, will be VG-66-W (weapon).

Optimized internal mechanism for the new frame, making it a sleek, insert-and-lock structure. Streamlined the controller mount & simplified the box geometry for 3D printing without support material. Ready for the next step! #Fusion360 #3DPrinting #Maker #RapidPrototyping #SciFi #Props #WIP
VGP-66 Progress Update✅️
Foregrip & Sling Integration
• Added a symmetrical, left/right swappable foregrip built with high-strength PLA.
Internal Frame Upgrade
• Connected commercial off-the-shelf M-LOK rails directly to the internal frame.
Aesthetics & Optimization
• Upgraded to bulkier arms for a realistic military look and optimized the screw layout.
The build is starting to feel way more solid and legit now! Next up: overall balance tuning

How to create SF-style truss designs on flat surfaces (Truss Structure Edition)
1. In the sketch, fill the plane with large triangles.
2. Fill any leftover spaces with polygons as needed.
3. Extrude.
4. Parameterize the extrusion thickness.
→ If extruded by Distance: After confirming, edit the feature again. Hover over the distance value → it shows `d-xxx`.
→ If using Object + Offset: Add a driven dimension for thickness in the sketch (check bottom right for `d-xxxx`) and note the parameter name.
5. Chamfer the sharp edges. (Perfectionists: chamfer in the initial sketch.)
6. Chamfer the back face.
Use the parameter name from step 4. This automatically matches the thickness.
Big benefit: Change thickness later and everything updates automatically.
7. Finish with a Cut.

Building the VGP66 VALiMA Canon in CAD 🔧
This update covers the magazine receiver unit — now complete!
Key steps:
Created a terminal cover in white to break up the all-black lower section
Built a slide space component using a bounding sphere + stopper boolean, then used shell + surface fill to clean up internal voids
Added safety switch housing (reusing a pre-built custom body — always save reusable parts externally!)
Routed wiring space through the arm interior
Finished with a truss recess on the receiver side
Magazine unit: ✅ Done. On to the next!
